About this listen

Padawan Reath Silas is being sent from the cosmopolitan galactic capital of Coruscant to the undeveloped frontier - and he couldn't be less happy about it. He'd rather stay at the Jedi Temple, studying the archives. But when the ship he's traveling on is knocked out of hyperspace in a galactic-wide disaster, Reath finds himself at the center of the action. The Jedi and their traveling companions find refuge on what appears to be an abandoned space station. But then strange things start happening, leading the Jedi to investigate the truth behind the mysterious station, a truth that could end in tragedy....

Featured Article: The Definitive Guide to the Canonical Star Wars Timeline

The Star Wars timeline is complicated. With a recently reestablished canon, a tendency toward nonlinear storytelling, and an ongoing creative surge of new films, television series, books, and comics expanding the already massive universe, it can be incredibly difficult for even the most dedicated among us to keep the Star Wars timeline straight. This unofficial timeline explainer offers a brief illumination of each period and the stories set within.

Claudia does it again!

Very few complaints. I loved the take on the Jedi Order at this time.

A good story

I hate to say it but this series of books makes the jedi sound very week and not well adapted to conflict....
I really liked the narrator...he had a very good voice and told the story very well....I don't recommend the book that came before this one however...

Enjoyable

It’s a good entry into the high republic era and a great performance.

I feel like it could use a little more of the original music score to not feel so distant atmospheric wise to other books.

And this one in particular uses a lot of idioms we use and less slang from the starwars universe that at times takes me out of the immersion.

That aside it is a well written story and has lots of interesting implications for the stories to come. Also some cool information I didn’t previously know about the Star Wars universe.

Love Claudia Gray, but about midway I lost interest in the story.

I love Claudia Gray and have enjoyed all of her Star Wars novels. Gray really did well with the characterization of each person in this story and their development. This novel had lesser characters than Light of the Jedi so I was able to do more for each character and allow the reader or listener to care about them more. As a side story and sequel to the main event of the Star Wars Galaxy, which was covered in Light of the Jedi, this story works pretty well. However, about halfway through the audiobook I lost a lot of interest. And I think it’s just the way the story went and how it had so much momentum, but then everything started to die down midway and picked back up again near the end, before the climax. But, since this is a side story mostly maybe I shouldn’t judge and treat it as a main one. Hoping to read or listen to whatever Gray writes next.

Great Second Book!

I loved that the story made its own impacts as an individual Star Wars story as well as keeping us involved with the Nihil Plot from the previous book.

Fills in Details

Helps with world building and explaining the Jedi Order. Was not super enthused with the voice acting at first, but came to appreciate the work.
