Story
In this Audible Original, Ruby Wax hunts down her heroes - brain scientists - in the UK and across America, to learn more about what makes us tick: why we get stressed, how we feel pain, what makes us addicted - and has a lot of fun along the way. She faces death with Past Mortems author Carla Valentine, explores how video games affect our attention with gamification expert Gabe Zichermann, and discovers the benefits of vaginal smearing with Professor Tim Spector.

Chock full of interesting stuff
Reviewed: 02-21-23
This book was chock-full of interesting information that I found to be helpful as a human being. So much so that I am going to have to listen to it again and, possibly again to try to process and absorb all of it. I found Ruby to be funny. She is over the top, but definitely my kind of humor. I’m going to be looking for more of her work so I can learn more and keep on laughing.

Story
Raina Bretton is a rag woman in London's East End when a handsome stranger appears in a dank alley and offers her a glittering smile and a chance for adventure. Rothburne Abbey has a unique position for her, one that will take her away from her hardscrabble life and give her a chance to be a lady. Things she could only dream of might be coming true. But some dreams turn out to be nightmares. Though Raina has traded squalor for silk and satin, something about the abbey is deeply unsettling.

Christian romance

This is a Christian testimony story. If you’re not interested in that sort of thing, don’t bother unfortunately by chapter 32 it got so ridiculous. I couldn’t finish the story. I don’t mind to clean Romance, but I would’ve like some warning that I was going to get bombarded with preaching about god. I really wish they would put it in the story overview for people like me that really are not interested in it and I hate to hear it.
What a waste of my time !

Story
Nora Hamilton knows the formula for love better than anyone. As a romance channel screenwriter, it’s her job. But when her too-good-to work husband leaves her and their two kids, Nora turns her marriage’s collapse into cash and writes the best script of her life. No one is more surprised than her when it’s picked up for the big screen and set to film on location at her 100-year-old-home. When former Sexiest Man Alive, Leo Vance, is cast as her ne’er do well husband Nora’s life will never be the same.

There was nothing that I really disliked about the story. I enjoyed the story very much. It was a nice balance between realism and fairy tale. Miscommunication is often a problem even in real life. I would definitely want to read other books from this author. I highly recommend Nora goes off script.

Story
Ever have one of those days where life just plain sucks? Welcome to my last three months - ever since I caught my can’t-be-soon-enough-ex-husband cheating with his paralegal. I’m 35 years old, and I’ve lost my NYC apartment, my job, my money, and frankly, my dignity. But the final heartache in the suck sandwich of my life? My great-aunt Maggie died. The only family member who’s ever gotten me. Even after death, though, she’s helping me get back up again. Too bad that bravado only lasts as long as it takes to drive into Huckleberry Hills. And see the house.

I loved the story and the realistic portrait of family dynamics. The characters were multi- dimensional and flawed, but that not helped this HEA story.

I enjoyed the story, but the narrator was distracting; with all the voice changes that lagged in the last character, even though it was a different character speaking.
I don’t like a book that ends abruptly with no end! If you want an ending of a story don’t bother with this book.

I’m a fan of Lisa Wingate books, because I like to learn new things along with a good story. This was an interesting story and actually caused me to go online and do some research myself; regarding melungen people, which I had never heard of. I ’m almost 60 years old and a college educated person. I think that there needs to be more information to shed light on Appalachia and it’s rich history. I highly recommend this book!
