Story
The first thing on our list of Save Miles from the Dark Magic That Might Be Making Him Do Ridiculous Things is to destroy the ominous book that's snagging my attention. But what I don't expect is to be dragged into the book filled with dark mysteries that leaves me with more questions and a lack of pants. But it's nothing that Havoc and I can't handle.

This one was so much fun! Trouble always seems to find Miles and his crew no matter what he does. Miles had to figure out how to control the new magic he ended up with at the end of the last one and the results were hilarious. I was cracking up every time Emperor Miles appeared, absolutely hilarious! And Greg Boudreaux's narration made it even better. I cannot say enough good things about Greg's narration, it's fantastic.
There were so many great things about this installment. Menace vs. Cotton Tuft, Marco being Marco, the talking sword, Lachlan being a giant ray of sunshine - to name a few. And of course, seeing Miles and Havoc strengthening their relationship even more. I loved seeing how supportive Havoc was in this one. He may tease Miles but no one believes in Miles more than Havoc and that was extremely apparent in this one.
I also enjoyed the Winter storyline a lot. Geoff is the gift that keeps on giving and that usually isn't a good thing, but I think in this case it was good. I even shed a few tears toward the end.
I truly hope this isn't the end for Miles and the gang because I've grown to love them so much throughout these 4 books and I will happily read/listen to any shenanigans they may get up to in the future.

Smart men quit while they’re ahead - they lay low and hope disaster blows on by them. Not me. Especially when disaster seems to follow me and my soulmate Havoc, a demon I bound to me 300 years ago with my magic. The dark mage Geoff is back from the dead and creating chaos by devouring the hearts of people with magical abilities, giving him overwhelming power as his followers grow.

This was such a great follow up to Happy Endings! It was so funny, the banter between Miles and Havoc was hilarious and I enjoyed seeing them so in love. True soulmates!
Once again, Greg Boudreaux was terrific at bringing this world and these characters to life.
I loved all the new additions to this crazy bunch. Menace, the demon cat, was the best (especially the big reveal near the end). And Etienne with the voice in his head and his undead horse was a great new addition. I look forward to reading his prequel novella.
In addition to the humor and the love story, there was a lot more action in this one as "The Penetrators" (that'll never not be funny to me haha) banded together to take down Geoff once and (hopefully) for all.
The epilogue in this book was epic, I was laughing in my car as I listened! I can't wait to see what trouble Miles, Havoc, Menace, and the rest of the bunch get up to next!

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

I had a lot of fun listening to this book! Once again, Greg Boudreaux did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. I loved Miles and his merry band of misfits as they had to work together to figure out who or what was behind the killings that had been happening. His biggest partner in crime was Havoc, a demon he bound to him hundreds of years ago. These two were a riot together. They lived to antagonize one another but it came from a place of mutual like and respect, in their own weird way. Despite all the crap they always gave each other, I loved how protective they were of each other and their transition to lovers felt organic. Havoc was adorable with how jealous he was of anyone he thought might be interested in Miles. And bless Miles for putting up with Havoc's shenanigans as well as he did (but I will say, Miles gave as good as he got). There were so many great secondary characters too - all types of creatures - that rounded out the story so well. Some truly ridiculous things happened, it was so fun, and the book was a great blend of action and love story. I'm excited to see what Miles, Havoc, and the rest of the gang get up to in the next book!

Before that night, there wasn’t much in my life I could complain about. I hunt rogue demons for a living, which is the coolest thing ever, and my brothers are the best. Sure, there was that thing with our parents betraying humanity, and okay, I wasn’t thrilled when my brother-bestie hooked up with a demon, but everything else was amazing. Except that Dylan, the person I love more than anything, wanted to keep our relationship secret.

Love this world and was glad to be back. Dylan and Matt were the cutest couple and so in love. Their relationship encountered a few hiccups but they had a strong foundation so I was never worried. This was more of a “whodunnit” as the group tries to figure out who attacked Matt and what their motivations were. I loved how everyone worked together - even Marc hahaha. There were some truly hilarious moments with Marc in this one, I was so happy to see so much of him. He’s seriously the best and I already miss him!
Ok and how cute was the epilogue? I may have shed a few happy tears.
I listened to the audiobook of this, like I did with the first one, and it was another great performance by Greg Boudreaux. I’ve listened to him narrate a wide variety of books at this point and he never misses!

Story
A thousand years ago, my great-something uncle founded the Collective, a secret organization dedicated to protecting humanity from demons. The hunter tradition has been passed down over the generations, from parent to child, secure in the knowledge that the Collective is a community of safety and knowledge. But betrayal sucks, and six years ago, it turned my world—and the Collective—upside down. After generations of deception, the hunters left behind are picking up the pieces and trying something we’ve never done before—working side by side with our enemy.

So much fun! Amazing voice acting!
Reviewed: 09-28-24
This book was a lot of fun to listen to! Greg Boudreaux did some amazing voice acting in this one. He's quickly becoming on of my favorite narrators. His performance as Marc was perfect. I loved Marc so much. His air of superiority and disdain for "grubby" humans was so good and quite funny as he was forced to actually befriend some. I loved how Ian goaded Marc. I laughed out loud a lot while listening to this book. And it was surprisingly sweet when Ian and Marc ended up falling for one another. I enjoyed all the paranormal aspects and even though I haven't read the series that deals with what happened 6yrs earlier, there was enough backstory given here that I never felt lost. I also liked the twist that happens, I hadn't guessed it and think I audibly gasped when it was revealed. I'm looking forward to listening to the next book in the series too!

I thought the aftermath of the trauma was handled very well and realistically. And the ending was beyond sweet!

In my defense, I was left alone with a bottle of single-malt and a lifelong penchant for protecting my baby sister. Still, that's no excuse to send 10 drunk-texts on why her hasty marriage would be a mistake. If only I had just texted my sister. But nope. I accidentally sent the message to her, her groom, and his super hot wingman. I also used the phrase “super hot wingman”, so I’d like to die now.

Hockey, studying, and school runs. That's my life now. After a tragic accident that took our parents' lives, it's up to me and my big brother to take care of our five younger siblings. In between burning their meals and keeping them from killing each other, I'm supposed to get a college degree. I loved Asher and Kole's story when I first read it a few months ago and listening to the audiobook only enhanced the experience! Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese are a great team for this series (and the Puckboys), I've enjoyed all of them. Alexander Cendese really knocked it out of the park, though, with his performance as Asher. There's one really emotional chapter and he went all in on it and it made me emotional too!

The hits just keep coming for Troy Barrett. Traded to the worst team in the league would be bad enough, but coming on the heels of a messy breakup and a recent scandal…Troy just wants to play hockey and be left alone. He doesn’t want to be in the news anymore, and he definitely doesn’t want to “work on his online presence” with the team’s peppy social media manager.

I really wish Cooper North had narrated all 6 books in this series because he does such an amazing job! It's to the point now that when I read excerpts from the other books, the voice in my head is Cooper North's. He really brings this world to life!
