Fun listen and interesting story with a fantastic voice actor. We had an interesting discussion after about how society would have been impacted post-Miracle. Perfect for short road trips!

Overall pretty good- great voice actor. The story progression and backstory were compelling enough until the end when it suddenly felt rushed and unpolished- more like a summary at the end than the resolution you are expecting- so a 4 star rating. Not expecting it to be a LGBTQ romance novella with a sci-fi/ fantasy setting- author obviously picked a more general category. That didn't affect my rating but something should be in the summary should one decide to listen with young ears in the car and perhaps accidently find out there is a love scene within the first 2 minutes.

This should have been half the length it was. Painful at times to get to the point. Interesting concept but not believable. If you listen, pretend all of the ages you hear are +4 from the book and it's slightly more plausible.

I liked the story but it was difficult to get behind. The background of the character and the back story of the world was too far fetched to be believable. More should have been done to prop up the story of the surroundings and the why of where the settlements were and what "the green" was. Why if seemed to thrive with animal and plant life but not be a place that could be used for crops. The severity of the gender based societies took things a little farther than what I thought would be able to develop naturally. It ended up being a frustrating story thin on development of the world history, structure, and drive.

struggled to finish. way too much in the way of soft core porn. I believed other reviewers that said the third book was better than the 2nd in that way but I would reverse the two. The third installment is a constant line of abduction and graphic abuse. By the end I was hoping all of the characters world just die already. The use of sex can be illustrative or contributory to a story line if I used properly- this was just games of thrones style perversion that could have been avoided without impacting the story. Disappointing- I enjoyed the first in the series. Nick Podehl was amazing as usual but that's the only saving grace of this audio production.

I like the author's books generally but this narrator had me clicking return before the end of the first chapter. I just couldn't listen to the lift in the voice. Hard to describe how distracting his cadence was.

Completely Inaccurate Representation of Autism

Any additional comments?

This story was interesting and captivating but the attempt at creating an autistic character overshadowed my overall impression of the suspense. The development of that character was inaccurate and aggravating as a person with autism. I kept telling myself it was the performance- each time the reader would happen on his voice she made him sound like something I don't think I would have heard if I had been reading the hard copy but the voice given the character has ruined the story for me. By the end of the performance I was disgusted and didn't care who loved, died, or ended up arrested.

Meandering Story

Engaging plot and storyline but the telling seemed meandering and too long. Stereotypes reigned hard for the strong female lead and her literally shining prince. As it retold itself over and over it was possible to skip chapters and not miss a beat. Not the author's best work.
