Awesome Read!
Reviewed: 10-11-24
This book provides good information and resources for people looking to rebuild their marriages. The author gives great advice and steps to move in the right direction to give your marriage another try. The reader must look inward instead of outward to apply the chapter principles. Focus on God and let Him change your heart. The steps listed don’t mean it’s an easy or quick fix, it will take time to heal and rebuild trust. Lean on the Lord and use this resource as a step to mend yourself and your marriage. You can only control yourself after confessing your own sins, repenting of those sins, seek forgiveness, and reconciliation. The author notes that reconciliation isn’t guaranteed so don’t do the steps for the other person. Make the changes for God and yourself. Highly recommend this book for those separated or getting ready to be separated. Don’t let your heart become harden, open it up to allow God to make a change in you.

Story
Negative thinking—it seems to have no end. The question is, can anything be done about it? Negative thinking is a self-perpetuating mechanism. Negative thinking fuels more negative thinking, which in turn fuels even more. Around and around it goes, never losing steam or momentum. All the while, you’re utterly fatigued and exhausted. Ten years can go by, and the mind-numbing cycle still will not have stopped. Because it’s self-sustaining, negative thinking only grows stronger with each passing month, year, and decade. Can it be stopped?

Great Resource for Simple Mindfulness
Reviewed: 10-07-24
Nic Saluppo offers simple tips on how to engage with the framing your perspective, evaluating the moment (my favorite), face your emotional trauma head on, etc. These are just a few of the mindfulness tools given. I encourage anyone looking to help stop negative thinking, get this book as it is well worth your time and you will not be disappointed. My favorite section was the evaluating the moment, as my thoughts often run wild in the moment but asking are my thoughts accurately depicting the situation and feelings behind it. This is going to help make sure my negative anxious thoughts are not running wild, and to have mindfulness to respond appropriately. As a person who has so many negative and anxiety, this book will be one that I will listen to again and again as a reminder. Great insight with practical steps of overcoming negative thinking.

Story
Being in a relationship without knowing how to share your feelings and receive your partner’s feelings in useful ways is like jumping into a pool without knowing how to swim. You can flail around all you want, but it’s not going to keep you afloat for very long—you need to be able to move in any direction at will. Like swimming, knowing how to share your feelings and respond to your partner's feelings will move your relationship in the direction you want: toward more intimacy, closeness, connection, and trust.

Great Book for those struggling with feelings
Reviewed: 10-07-24
This book has been a tremendous resource for me that led to great talking points during my counseling sessions. My childhood trauma has caused damaging issues in the way I communicate, and while my trauma is not an excuse for my current behavior. It is a good starting point for my therapist and I to work through together to overcome these challenges so I can better communicate my feelings and emotions. Ensuring I don't use defensive words as outlined in the book. I highly recommend this book for men that are also struggling. You are not alone, and this book is a great resource to work through that struggle before it is too late.

Insightful and compassionate guide for couples facing the challenges of separation
Reviewed: 10-03-24
The book provides practical advice and emotional support, especially for those who may feel hopeless or stuck. The author shows the importance of personal healing and spiritual growth during separation, encouraging readers to focus on self-reflection and change rather than controlling their spouse’s actions. There are no quick fixes but instead she offers long-term strategies for personal growth, reconciliation, and rebuilding trust. She shares stories from her own experience and from others who have faced separation, creating a relatable and encouraging narrative.
The step-by-step advice on communication, forgiveness, and setting boundaries is particularly helpful. It offers tools to manage conflict and rebuild intimacy, even when the relationship feels distant. Rooks’ faith-based perspective adds an element of hope, particularly for Christian readers, though the advice is applicable to anyone facing marital difficulties.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is separated from their spouse. Praying for all those who are struggling. God is in control and not you, so give it all to Him though painful.
