Story
I must be brave. I must do what has to be done. I am Alice. Alice is the most powerful witch the county has ever seen. She may one day be the most evil. But Alice is also the best friend - and true love - of Tom Ward. Together they work to defeat the Fiend - the world's greatest evil - once and for all. They have nearly everything they need, all except a blade hidden in the Dark, the Fiend's domain. So Alice ventures there to find it. She faces the most terrifying creatures in existence. And she once again battles old enemies who bear grudges: Bony Lizzie, Bloodeye, and more.

Story
“Are you there, Satan? It’s me, Madison,” declares the whip-tongued 13-year-old narrator of Damned, Chuck Palahniuk’s subversive new work of fiction. The daughter of a narcissistic film star and a billionaire, Madison is abandoned at her Swiss boarding school over Christmas, while her parents are off touting their new projects and adopting more orphans. She dies over the holiday of a marijuana overdose—and the next thing she knows, she’s in Hell.

Not really worth it

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
This is a strange audiobook, and not really worth a credit. It is boring and dry at times.

Great Book

This is a fabulous book. First the story of Juana the Mad, is great. It portrays her as she really was a victim of power hungry men. Was she mad? No! Just a victim of domestic violence. But you have to judge that for yourself. The narrator tone and clarity if fabulous. The only regret is I wish the author would have went more in depth of Juana life. I highly recommend this audio book.

One Spooky book
Reviewed: 11-05-09
This book is the first of the The Wardstone Chronicles, The Spook's Last Apprentice. The series intended for children 12 and up. However, adults may enjoy the series too. It is good book to curl up to, but a word of the wise...its scary. The narrator has great voice, tone, and clarity. The narrator and author whirl you through the life of 17th century Spook's Apprentice, as he rids the county of ghost, boggarts, and witches. The battle wages on "good versus evil." Great Book!!!!
