Life Changing
Reviewed: 04-22-22
I wish I had read a book like this 20 years ago. If I had this indepth knowledge and insight, back then, I would have been able to avoid many pitfalls and painful relationships. The content of this book validated a lot of my past traumas and reminded me that my past traumas do not define who I am today. With perseverance, hard work and faith in the redemptive power of Jesus Christ, my life has turned out so much better than I ever imagined. I refuse to allow those past traumas & memories to ruin my life and dictate my future. I now make good choices in who I let into my inner circle of friends & I always accept an opportunity to encourage others who have been traumatized. There is a good life available to any of us after living through traumatic relationships or childhoods. I highly recommend this book.

Story
In the revised edition of his hit book The Sacred Search, author Gary Thomas helps single people of all ages make wise marital choices, in large part by rethinking what basis those choices should be made on. Listeners are encouraged to think beyond finding their “soul mate", an idea that has its roots in the philosophy of Plato, and instead adopt a more biblical search for a “sole mate” - someone who will walk with them on their spiritual journey.

I'm not a fan of fiction novels, but this one kept my attention. The storyline and the way it was read made this fiction book uniquely enjoyable. The characters were well developed and how their lives intertwined made me wonder how my life was intertwined with others who I may not know personally. I loved the simplicity of the story, the life lessons taught and how those lessons made me contemplate the brevity of life.

Even better than I imagined it would be.

Years ago, Dr. Tony Evans' preaching style had opened my spiritual eyes and helped me to understand the Word of God. I have heard him preach thousands of times and he has inspired me to continuously press into my relationship with the Lord and to know Him better. As I've learned more about the Evans family, I have read their books, heard them preach or speak many times over and am even part of the Inner Circle. Each family member has unique gifts and ministry styles that I have truly been blessed by throughout the years. This book has inspired me to press on through the difficult times and keep focused on the end goal, the eternal life we will have with the Lord. It has also reminded me to be intentional in constantly prioritizing what is most important in life. It's a honor to be invited into the intimate details of the heartbreak that this family went through in losing so many loved ones in a short amount of time. Yet, their trust, hope and love for the Lord kept them anchored throughout these repeated storms and trials. Thank you Evans family for another great book filled with pearls of wisdom and for sharing your deep love for the things of the Lord.
