Story
"A bite or scratch will turn the victims to one of the infected within 72 hours..." Those words rang in Evan Berry's head. Waking to discover he'd been scratched was a death sentence. Deciding that he would not force Carl or Betty to have to put him down after he turned, Evan said farewell to his group and slipped out in the middle of the night. Deciding that he would make one last run in the hopes that he could bring back enough supplies for his beloved Newfoundland, Chewie, Evan embarks on a quest that will show him just how fast and far society has fallen.

Bye bye Brown

Sadly, another author capable of creating only “white supremacist” boogiemen as the antagonists of their stories. And I loved the original Dead series. News flash folks: everyone is capable of racism.
Just wish I had realized that Brown was dragging this newer series down that pathetically tired and over-traveled path before wasted three credits on all of these books.

Sadly, it’s time to say, “goodbye Rotten World”..

I was an avid fan of the first five entries into this series. Fantastic story, great characters/development, gruesome world…zombie jackpot!
I was excited to see two more entries into the Rotten World universe after taking a break from audiobooks for a bit. I made it through book six and about 45 minutes into “Tempered”…and I am unfortunately, and sadly, done with Jacy’s offerings.
Yet another author harvesting the low hanging and divisive fruit of “white people are all bigots”, “men are all sexist, misogynistic pigs”, “white men are the sum total of all evil”. It is getting SO tired. This horse isn’t just dead from flogging, it has been needlessly and mercilessly ground into the pavement until pulp.
These tripe tropes are ham-handedly slammed into the listeners face chapter after chapter with the grace and subtlety of mountain top removal mining.
The hypocrisy of having racist/sexist, drug-dealing, murdering, thieving outlaw biker characters complain CONSTANTLY about racism and sexism is beyond numbing…it’s infuriatingly insulting.
This isn’t high-minded social commentary, it’s churlish and fractious mud slinging…and it is as needless as it is relentless.
On the plus side: another great performance by narrator T.L. Howell!

Story
On Earth, political tensions boil over between the United Americas, Union of Progressive Peoples, and Three World Empire. Conflict spreads to the outer fringes, and the UK colony of New Albion breaks with the Three World empire. This could lead to a Colony War. Trapped in the middle are journalist Cher Hunt, scientist Chad McLaren, and the synthetic Davis. Cher, seeking to discover who caused the death of her sister, Shy Hunt, uncovers a far bigger story. McLaren’s mission, fought alongside his wife, is to stop the militarization of the deadliest weapon of all—the Xenomorph.

And I waited for this with excitement….

If I wanted juvenile woke politics I would watch Joy Reid or the View. I listen to/read SciFi to escape the insanity, not to dive further into the cesspool. Returned less than three hours in as there were more political tangents than xenomorphs.
Hopefully there will be no survivors on this LV-gone-rogue…this series will launch it’s shuttle, reach the frontier and, with a little luck, the network will pick it up.

The Zombie Apocalypse....woke style....

Woke woke-ness for the woke crowd. White people are entitled neo-facists who own slaves “of color”. Sad, as I WAS a fan. Yawn, next.
On the up side, 5 stars for a great performance by Mr Porter.
