Story
The world outside has grown toxic, the view of it limited, talk of it forbidden. The remnants of humanity live underground in a single silo. But there are always those who hope, who dream. These are the dangerous people, the residents who infect others with their optimism. Their punishment is simple. They are given the very thing they want: They are allowed to go outside.

I started the tv series and decided to listen to the books and IM SO GLAD I DID! The tv series is good in my opinion (without having the book to compare it to) and now listening to the books the series makes more sense.
Except (like most tv series) doesn’t match the books :(
This book series is eye opening and definitely thought provoking. It makes me wonder about the ‘what if’s’ 🧐
It’s so well thought out, the reactions to each scenario… the fight for control… it’s soooooo good.
The narration is easy to follow and easy to keep track of the amount of characters at different ages and genders. Wonderful job.
The raw humanity is what I personally love most about this book. It’s easy to find someone to relate to.
I especially like the writing, every situation isn’t over explained, it leaves a lot to my imagination. I appreciate that.
Definitely a MUST READ! I can’t wait to start the second book!

There was a LOT of inner dialogue in this book. It made it easy to zone out from time to time.
I felt there was an over abundance of explanations in this book, the others I felt left more to the reader to figure out. There was a lot more step by step explanations that was long winded.
Definitely more inner thoughts and monologue also, it lost me quite often.
The performance was excellent and consistent.

Oh my gahhhhh I LOVED the writing in this book! The characters are so lovable and easy to connect with.
The humor is BRILLIANT, I found myself laughing out loud the entire time.
The only thing I found myself lost was the character perspective. Mostly the same voice for male and female characters in each different character perspective. That made it a little difficult for me to keep everyone organized while listening.
Other than that it was so wonderful I love the authors creative voice and writing style, I look forward to more from Rainbow! 💜

Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

I personally loved the story!! I loved the characters and the writing told a deep story of emotions that I couldn’t turn away from.
Each character was easy to differentiate, thankfully because there were a lot.
The narration was wonderful and kept every word pulling me closer and closer to the final hurrah.
Each twist was like a slap in the face, so needless to say there were many slaps that left me feeling raw, but ended with a gentle caress haha.

Story
Body & Soul is the story of a young man whose life is transformed by a gift. The gift is not without price - the work is relentless, the teachers exacting - but the reward is a journey that takes him to the drawing rooms of the rich and powerful, private schools, a gilt-edged marriage, and Carnegie Hall. Claude moves through this life as if he were playing a difficult composition, swept up in its drama and tension, surprised by its grace notes. Music, here, becomes a character in its own right, equaled in strength only by the music of Frank Conroy's own unmistakable, true voice.

This was a wonderful story! The entire time was engaging and relatable. All the characters I felt I could relate and understand, i felt so connected to Claude and his life.
His growing up was so well written it surrounded me like a movie. The writing wasn’t overly descriptive, I was able to put some details together myself and yet not miss anything…
The depth of each character’s life adversity was brilliant and gave such a great view of the world and life in that time… it was so raw and honest.
The narration was fantastic and was consistent and easy to follow.
Overall a brilliant, beautiful story 💜

Story
An extraordinary debut novel of love that survives the fires of hell and transcends the boundaries of time. The narrator of The Gargoyle is a very contemporary cynic, physically beautiful and sexually adept, who dwells in the moral vacuum that is modern life. As the book opens, he is driving along a dark road when he is distracted by what seems to be a flight of arrows.

The narrator did a great job of separating characters and portraying inner monologue.
I loved how the characters came full circle and everything came together.
It’s wonderful and now a personal favorite that I may listen to every year. :)

The narration was a little off I felt, the rhythm and sync of reading and narration was off… I don’t know how to explain it. When I increased the narration speed it made it easier for me to follow while listening.

Story
In The Anxious Generation, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt lays out the facts about the epidemic of teen mental illness that hit many countries at the same time. He then investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults. Haidt shows how the “play-based childhood” began to decline in the 1980s, and how it was finally wiped out by the arrival of the “phone-based childhood” in the early 2010s.
