Story
What if your favorite characters came to life? Billy’s spending the summer in a lakeside cabin that belongs to the mysterious Dr. Libris. But something strange is going on. Besides the security cameras everywhere, there’s Dr. Libris’s private bookcase. Whenever Billy opens the books inside, he can hear sounds coming from the island in the middle of the lake. The clash of swords. The twang of arrows. Sometimes he can even feel the ground shaking. It’s almost as if the stories he’s reading are coming to life! But that’s impossible...isn’t it?

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely yes! As a teacher, I am in love with this book. This novel uses other novels story lines as escape tools! My kids wanted to read the other books mentioned in this book as soon as we were finished. The creativity and depth to connect the elements in this plot line were astounding.
What did you like best about this story?
How well thought out the plot was. Each element connected to each other perfectly and it became a giant puzzle you were racing to solve.
Any additional comments?
This author has another book Escape From Lemonchello's Library that was equally if not slightly more enchanting and engaging than this one.

Crusty dragon Miss Drake has a new pet human, precocious Winnie. Oddly enough, Winnie seems to think Miss Drake is her pet - a ridiculous notion! Unknown to most of its inhabitants, the City by the Bay is home to many mysterious and fantastic creatures, hidden beneath the parks, among the clouds, and even in plain sight. And Winnie wants to draw every new creature she encounters: The good, the bad, and the ugly. But Winnie’s sketchbook is not what it seems. Somehow, her sketchlings have been set loose on the city streets!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, the story itself has so many layers and depth. It has beautiful themes of acceptance, friendship, and growing pains. It balances that with adventure and suspense and a bit of magic.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Dragon's Guide to the Care and Feeding of Humans?
When the old dragon begins to soften toward her new human.
Have you listened to any of Susan Denaker’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No. It took me a moment to adjust to this reader. At first, she was not my favorite. She did not seem like the right voice for a children's novel. However, I would encourage you to hold out because as the story continues she becomes the perfect fit.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Oh Winnie...

Story
Holy unanticipated occurrences! It begins, as the best superhero stories do, with a tragic accident that has unexpected consequences. The squirrel never saw the vacuum cleaner coming, but self-described cynic Flora Belle Buckman, who has read every issue of the comic book Terrible Things Can Happen to You!, is the just the right person to step in and save him. What neither can predict is that Ulysses (the squirrel) has been born anew, with powers of strength, flight, and misspelled poetry - and that Flora will be changed too.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes- and no- This is a truly entertaining story. However, it is written and illustrated as a graphic novel. If you do not see the artwork and illustrations you miss a great deal of the story that is held not in the words but in the pictures.
What did you like best about this story?
The humor! This story is a riot. The little girls imagination is on fire and her stories and interactions are hilarious as a result.
What does Tara Sands bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She does a great job with the voices and impersonation of different characters. In particular she has a talent for dramatic pauses that I would not have used if reading it on my own.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It was on occasion laugh out loud funny. This was in part to listening to it in a car full of young boys.

A cute and creative story for young readers
Reviewed: 04-03-17
What made the experience of listening to The Sasquatch Escape the most enjoyable?
I enjoyed listening to this novel with my children on the way to and from school. It was easy to follow along with even for my kindergartner. With an age and gender gap from 4th grade to k it can be challenging to find novels that appeal to all. This novel though was just the right mix. It had adventure and suspense without being scary. It mixed magical creatures with realistic fictional elements. It was easy to follow along with and remember what was going on as we listened over several days.
What other book might you compare The Sasquatch Escape to and why?
This novel is similar to Rescue on the Oregon trail in that it has elements of fantasy involving animals. It has missions meant to rescue others who are in trouble. Both are series revolving around these two elements. It could also be compared to All the wrong Questions. Both of these novels involve children who are bored because of where the are. They are out on secret missions and trying to solve mysteries.
Which scene was your favorite?
The first visit to the worm hospital.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
No, I felt the story to be very entertaining but not a deep and moving novel.

A cross between The Giver and Percy Jackson
Reviewed: 04-03-17
Would you consider the audio edition of The Unwanteds to be better than the print version?
I'm 9. This book is kinda long and challenging to me. I read along while audible reads it to me. I think that makes it better. I couldn't read it without the help. The voices they use make it come alive more too.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I like Mrs. Octavia because who wouldn't love a half alligator half octopus?!?!?! REALLY!
What does Simon Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Each character has their won voice. I can't do voices. That makes this more like a movie when I read it.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
YES! near the end. When you read you will too. It was so scary when you thought you lost....
Any additional comments?
You should read this series. It is amazing. The book is a lot like The Giver because there is a world without a lot of things. They made it this way to be better, but it isn't better. Someone else has to keep all the real other things separate. Both books decide early what kids should do and where they should go. They grow up while still being kids. It's also like Percy Jackson because it has magic and battles of good versus evil. You will like it. :)

What made the experience of listening to 11 Birthdays the most enjoyable?
My name is Jackson, and I read this book for Battle of the books. I am 9. I thought it was going to be a girly book, but it wasn't. It was really good. I liked the person who read it. They had great voices and made it sound real. I liked the way the book left you wondering what would happen next. You were rooting for the two main characters the whole time. you wanted them to succeed. You'd think it would be boring to repeat a day, but this book was not boring. It had us all hooked.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the twist. You'll have to read it to see what I mean. No spoliers from me.
Which character – as performed by Kathleen McInerney – was your favorite?
The old lady with the duck shaped birthmark!
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It builds up and resets so much. I didn't cry, but I yelled out frustrated every time the day repeated.
Any additional comments?
You should read it! You wont be disappointed.
