This story was so engrossing, and cathartic with the use of full emotion range. A fairy tale action adventure love story, with main characters embodying souls worthy of admiration.

The story flows organically. As a series, it's wonderful to see characters that you have invested time knowing and loving in previous books, hold a greater role than traditional series writers usually do as they round out more characters. Very well written and narrated.

The authors ability to insert human realism into the characters makes this story amazing. It's so easy to identify with the characters, to fall in love with them, and to revere them.

it is easy to envision the world, to understand the society, and to get swept up into the story as if you are living it among them.

wonderful work.

I was hooked right from the start. Narrators did a wonderful job. The story was gut wrenching, but the unique way the author tells the story was refreshing.

Wonderfully engrossing story. Better read than audio listen. narration was difficult to listen to with the many mispronounced words. For example, traditional pronunciation of the Scottish Hero, Donal, is actually DONul, not donELL as the narrator chose, among many other mispronunciations. Also, I felt that the author wrote the heroin to be bold and decisive. Choosing an overall hesitant tone for her felt contradictory to the character. The story was exciting from beginning to end. I look forward to the rest of the series.

I really love all the mythology in these stories. This was a wonderful modernization of the old stories. Great read. I was uncomfortable with the under age adult behavior, but, that was only a very brief moment. The end was something I was able to see coming long before it happened, but was so masterfully written that it was still exhilarating to experience. Great Stories. I'm so sorry they are over.

This book felt more like one long prolog once it was finished. It's a lot of beginning story lines with no conclusion to any of them. While I was engrossed throughout, I became very dissappointed in the end, that it was actually the end. Not one single tantalizing beginning had a conclusion for me as the reader, to ruminate over. There isn't any satisfying digestion, only tasty little samples.

Where does The Land of Painted Caves rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The land of Painted Caves ranks among the top of all the books we have listened to over the years. Jean M. Auel held my husband and I spell bound in Aayla and Jondular's story from book one,but we were thrilled with how she tied that world together in her final novel. We feel that she highlighted her research so well on Aayla's Donier tour. We appreciated her desire to take us along with her!

What other book might you compare The Land of Painted Caves to and why?

I could compare this book to any of Diana Gabeldon's Outlander series of books. Both authors have a wonderfully unique way of writing their extensive research into the story line so well. We are in awe of Jean M. Auel's commitment to create an imagined yet believable world and lifestyle of early man. We recognize the research in her books through the indepth descriptions.

Which scene was your favorite?

This is a very hard question to ask. Each scene in the book blended so well with the next that without any one of them, they would lose their potency. I will admit to it being difficult to "catch" up when years passed and we missed some of the developing stages of Jonaayla.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I did laugh, and I did cry, in several places in this book. I may not have done so if I read the book as a stand alone. Having the first five in the series precede it made it easier to be more involved in the final installation.

Any additional comments?

My husband and I were thrilled to be so absorbed in Jondular and Aayla's world that we were sorry it was over. We wish there were more installments of Earth's Children to look forward too. We are grateful to Jean M. Auel for her willingness to share this story with the world.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this audiobook series to a friend. My husband and I listened together and we were both impressed with how much we were caught up in the stories! I would also strongly suggest they make their purchase through Audible, as it is much more cost effective than getting it through a book store.

What did you like best about this story?

This series had everything ranging from action adventure to mystery, and even fantasy.

What does Becca Battoe bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Becca Battoe had a great way of using her voice inflection to reflect the attitude and age of the heroine, and she included emotion. She did a wonderful job.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

My husband is a truck driver and I am a full time ride along wife. We like to listen to audio books to pass time while the truck is rolling down the highways and interstates of the USA. One of the selling points for an audio book, through audible, is the length of time it will take to listen to it. We aren't always interested in a book we can listen to from beginning to end in one sitting. Fifty Shades series kept us entertained, for at least a week!
