About this listen

Get the Fall of Radiance boxed set, featuring all five action-packed books in the best-selling epic fantasy series - including adventure, magic, war, and a bond between warriors that can't be broken.

Magic has protected Tarsynium for a thousand years, shielding its people from being ravaged by bloodthirsty demons. When a young ranger's apprentice named Owyn Lund discovers that the Arc of Radiance has been breached, he tries to warn anybody who will listen.

But legends aren't supposed to be real.

When a village is mysteriously destroyed, rangers, mages, and rebels all point the finger, blaming each other for the demons' brutality. However, Zara Dennel, a mage's ward, has heard Owyn's tale - and she's inclined to believe him.

Together, they must prove that friendship is greater than intolerance, unity is more important than division, and that even the most powerful magic can sometimes not be enough.

Failure means the end of all things. A second - and lasting - Doom.

Buy this special edition omnibus to experience a saga with something for every fan of epic fantasy. Suitable for all ages, it's perfect for fans of Sabaa Tahir, Sarah J. Maas, and Brandon Sanderson.

This was a fabulous series. I am sorry to see it come to an end. The writing picturesque in detail was performed in such a way that I never lost track. I could see all in my minds eye. I’m keeping this one to listen to again. Thank you so much. T

honestly reading this book was like counting one two three four....... I was surprised several times in the book not because the result was unpredictable but because I hoped that the author would step outside of the most basic plot lines and add twist. So much potential in this story with the characters but everything that happened was the most predictable possible outcome. I foresaw the ending of the final book before I even finished the fourth book. I found myself creating plot twist that would have taken the reader by surprise and added depth to the storyline begging the author to do something other than what I foresaw coming and was disappointed every single time. warning possible spoilers..,........................,...........,.....................................,.....,...................................... The most frustrating thing of all is the fact that at the end of the book every single talisman is a bomb capable of obliterating every demon within sight and it's never utilized. if Zara had taught the spell to the other mages the final battle could have been won easily. it's like they discover a cash of M16 in the medieval ages but choose not to use them because they think they can create a nuclear weapon that will kill most of them along with it.

oh so close but yet so far

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading save this series. Their performance is top notch, as it always is. I just... the book was... fine. It's extremely formulaic, and I found myself unsurprised by nearly everything that happened. There weren't anything in the way of twists, and nothing that really jumped out. It was very straight forward.

The writing itself is perfectly serviceable, but the story just didn't exactly wow me. You can see all the homages to different stories by other writers, which, while on the nose sometimes, doesn't detract from the story itself.

I am very glad, though, that this series only cost me 1 credit instead of 5. That was why I went with it in the first place, and hey, 51 hours is a pretty good deal for a single credit. So, if you need to kill time, buy it.. Just know that you are not going to blown away by the story.

Formulaic YA at it's finest.

It’s an amazing book

Dual narrators a little off putting at first but an awesome story

Great book

Books 1 through 3 I thought were fantastic books 4 and 5 I feel like they struggled a little bit. In book 4and 5 at times it felt like things were forced.

A couple things bothered me throughout the Books.

One that I noticed right away was the lack of supporting weapons.. Let me explain, with Owen and Elias both of them only carried a relatively small one handed weapon. Elias carried a knife or dagger. which he then would used to fight demons that held swords flales maces or axes. It wasn't until the middle or the end of book 4 that he used the sword and his dagger. If the Rangers we're the ones who fight and battle the darkness throughout the lands of the kingdom. Then why would you only have a knife and a bow. This is the same issue I felt with Owen hatchet. From what I can tell maybe it was only 2' . How are you supposed to block a sword or a mace or an axe with a 2' hatchet. With a weapon that's mostly wood. This is one of the things that brought my mind kind of out of the story when they fought.

The other was when all the mages had to clench their talisman In their hand to cast spells. in book 3 when Zara is captured she is able to channel the source energy by touching the skin of her Capture. So why couldn't the mages channel there source energy by having the towelsman, just touching their skin? From what I can tell from the story, all of the mages had their source crystals on a chain. if it was touching their skin then they should have been able to draw from the source energy. Like they did when it was in their hand.

I do agree with one of the reviews that having both narrators choose voices to do would have been a lot easier to follow. Then having them each basically take a chapter and do all the voices again for each character.

To me those are the only issues that made me think what was going on this doesn't make sense.

very enjoyable

I bought the five book pack. I am sad to see the series end, but it was a journey well worth the travel.

Swords and Magic, but with a new twist.

I was a good story with characters that were well developed but not transparent. Some past was given throughout the series to explain the character's development explaining how they became the characters we readers interact with during the current storyline. Some frustrating bits where the buildup to pivotal moment broke the action to spend too much time blathering about the characters thought processes. Those could have been presented in an after action flashback to a tough decision point. and could have been story development where an action seemed questionable during the crisis. Mystery resolved shortly thereafter.

Very little I didn't like

The story was okay. It is worth a credit because of the length. The writing is simple and not well thought out at times. Do yourself a favor and listen to it at least 1.25 speed, The narrators speak very slow and it makes the main characters always sound like they are whining. When I sped it up it got a lot easier to listen to.

Worth a Credit, but not much else

I really enjoyed this book series. It was down to earth good fantasy fiction. The characters were likable and grew with the story. A coming of age story. the fantasy concept was very interesting, though. the magic lacked depth. nonetheless, overall a good listen. would be good for young adults as well.

A great adventure
