They hold Earth hostage, and if we refuse to do their bidding, they’ll lay waste to our precious blue marble. Slaughtering the billions who live there. A wild and fun ride.
Reviewed: 05-22-24
I've read many of Scott's novels and this one ranks up there as one of the best. I'm not familiar with Joshua James, but I couldn't tell the difference between who wrote what part. I read the novel when I received it for backing the Kickstarter. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the audiobook so I would have something to listen to during my deliveries. Mark is also one of my favorite narrators. When you have him as a narrator, you know it is going to be top notch.

Paralyzed by a drunk driver, let go from his job, and stuck in a sad, stagnant town in the middle of nowhere, Joseph Locke was having the worst day of his life. And then he died. But considering that he wakes up with a brand-new body, in the cockpit of a badass steampunk robot, on an airship of nothing but hot babes, his next life may not be all that bad. Especially when he learns that he’s a void mage—the rarest and most powerful of all mages on the world of Haven. And his shipmates want to help him make more.

A fun and enjoyable romp

This was my first novel of this type of genre. Edie knocked it out of the park. The characters were 3d and well-developed. The Harem parts were believable and I can understand why Locke was initially confused and hesitant. He was in an unfamiliar place, with an unfamiliar culture and not sure why he was here or really where he was. As for him being able to pilot the Titan so well, he was a gamer and computer programmer so he was able to visualize things better than if he was just some untrained schmuck off the street. I'm looking forward to the next book.

it was a very fun read. For being his first book Jamie did a really good job with it. I could tell he did extensive research to not only get the local area around Whidbey Island, but also of Imperial Japan during the Shogun period.

Story
Imperial Intelligence couldn't find them, the Imperial Fleet couldn't catch them, and local defenses couldn't stop them. It seemed the planet-wrecking pirates were invincible. But they made a big mistake when they raided ex-commando leader Alicia DeVries' quiet home/work, tortured and murdered her family, and then left her for dead. Alicia decided to turn "pirate" herself, and stole a cutting-edge AI ship from the empire to start her vendetta. Her fellow veterans think she's gone crazy, the Imperial Fleet has shoot-on-sight orders. And, of course, the pirates want her dead, too.

This books picks up right at the ending of Bloodlord. It was a non stop adrenaline ride that built well on the previous books. There were some surprises. Over all just as fun a read as the other books in the series.

Picks up where the second one stops
Reviewed: 05-12-20
The action continues, Christopher does a great job of picking up the action where the last book leaves off. You see a lot more character growth in Colin as he struggles to handle what he is and is afraid he may become. The world he has created is so robust and a nice spin on the whole Demons trope. Getting ready to start book 3.

I didn't really know what to expect going into this book, but from the very first chapter I was drawn into the story. The author does a great job of weaving the various beats and scenes into a finely tuned work of art. By the end of the book I had grown attached to the characters and felt their loss when some of them died. Looking forward to starting the next book.

I picked this up from a recommendation from Chris Fox. I was not disappointed, for being Trevor's first novel it was really well written. You really became invested with the main characters. From the start of the book there is action, and it is nice to see the main characters not being super powered or being BAMF's from the start. You get to see real character growth as the characters grow and become more confident in their roles and how they begin to mesh into a good team. As always Ryan Kennard Burke does a great job in narrating. He is becoming one of my favorite narrators. This is going to be a series I will binge listen and will be picking up the second book as soon as I get some credits.
