Not sure
Reviewed: 02-25-25
It was OK, but the narrator may have added to some of the confusion. I enjoyed the voice but it was difficult to figure out sometimes if we were in the past or present. I also think there were some bad edits especially late in the book. Good story but I can't decide if I will listen to the next one.

There was buld up and questions that weren't answered in this book. Some editing that was overlooked. The story was fine but there were little things that were unnecessary and some that just didn't fit.

I think it's in Double Tap I felt there were some editing /consistency issues. Other than that I am enjoying this series. I do appreciate the moments of levity in books that could be all about killing bad guys.

A bad best man’s speech can ruin a wedding. Why do we plan every detail of a perfect day and then give the groom’s idiot best friend five minutes of total power? Enter Nate (Glen Powell), a speechwriter-for-hire who helps people write incredible best man speeches. To keep the best man from embarrassing himself (and the newlyweds), Nate uses his list of don’ts: Don’t mention the exes, don’t be rated R, and don’t bum everyone out. Nate’s system never fails. That is, until he meets Dan (Nicholas Braun).

I've listened to several Garwood books and books narrated by Tonya Eby. I really enjoy how Eby does characters but in this book I'm not sure if it's the narration or the writing. I also don't like how Garwood has characters with such similar names.

Story
Bayou transplant Odessa Dean has a lot to learn about life in Brooklyn. So far she's scored a rent free apartment in one of the nicest neighborhoods around by cat-sitting, and has a new job working at Untapped Books & Café. Hand-selling books and craft beers is easy for Odessa, but making new friends and learning how to ride the subway? Well, that might take her a little extra time. But things turn more sour than an IPA when the death of a fellow waitress goes viral, caught on camera in the background of a couple's flash-mob proposal video.
