If only I could give it zero stars

The narrator is awful! very monotone. When voice inflection was used, it was in weird places. It was difficult to know which character was speaking because the all sounded the same. The story might have been good. But then there were the gross, over described sex scenes. Not into that, gross!

Over-all, I loved the book. There was something about the tone of the narrator's voice that made him difficult to hear at times, even with the headphones all of the way up.

I loved this story. The only problem I had was the sex scenes. There was only a snippet of them, but why can't authors write about sex without being overly graphic?

I found the voice of Leah to be annoying. I struggled to finish due to graphic sexual content in the last 2/3 of the book. Also, abuse is not foreplay. Love should not hurt!

Story
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

Painted Horses sends a dauntless young woman on a heroic quest, sings a love song to the horseman's vanishing way of life, and reminds us that love and ambition, tradition and the future, often make strange bedfellows. It establishes Malcolm Brooks as an extraordinary new talent.

Bryn felt sickened as he felt the ground shake, knowing that one of the two shafts had collapsed. Now, he stood in the pump room and watched the two thrumming pumps as they pulled water out of the deep mines. He knew that one of them would strain when the water became fouled with coal dust and debris from the collapse, and if it was pump number two, it would mean that his father and older brothers were probably dead.
