Brilliant Herron and Doyle combination. Of all the Herron books, this one comes closest, in my view, to besting John LeCarre's Smiley works. I think that's all I will say, except to note that I can't get Gerard Doyle's voice out of my head when I am eye-reading Herron, so why not just use the credit and enjoy.

I've listened to this audio book 3 times over the years, each time enjoying it completely. This time, the selflessness and decency of the two lead characters startled me. Perhaps that's because those aspects of moral standing seem so lacking in the world right now. This is an exceptionally fun book, full of Blue Heron charm and plenty of spice. The voice actor gives a stellar performance.

I was preoccupied in the late '90s when Bridget Jones exploded into the cosmos. What a delight to discover her now, over 20 years on. This is a classic. Fun, bubbly, tender, and irreplaceable. The voice actor is spectacular.

I'd hoped to discover a lost masterpiece. Oh, dear. Perhaps this novel helped people pass long wet afternoons reading to each other back in the early 1800s. The authored used 100 words when she could have used one. I'm not sure anything actually happened in the book. It certainly confirms my belief that Jane Austen was a genius.

Good police procedural set in the heart of England. Sympathetic back stories for heroine and her boss, newbie with a stalker and experienced senior detective family man. Evokes sweet and tough aspects of semi-rural British contemporary life in an endearing and enduring country town near Birmingham. I confess I have a weakness for British/Indian young detectives. The who done it was classic. Very well done voice-acting as well.

I'm relatively scientifically illiterate. This book is totally understandable. Yet it is not simplistic. Another aspect i appreciate: the authors consistently distinguish between what they have concluded and what other scientists have concluded. They are also fearless in telling us when they themselves have not decided one way or another regarding theories, etc. Fascinating. Well narrated too. Highly recommend.

Louth once again proves his plotting and writing genius. He also managed to use the pandemic as a practical plot device. Superb narration too.

This book dwells on details of the photographer's deeply personal physical and emotional connections. There is little insight offered into her artistic drives, There is far too much novelistic description of emotional and mental states, that the author does not explain from whom or where the information came. I skipped through the last half of the book. Also, the narrator gave different voices to different "characters." This is not necessary, in my opinion, when the book is a biography. In the case of the voice she gave to Ms Arbus, it was downright insulting - a twisted barbie-dollar half whisper at times. What a waste of time and money.

Thank you, Stella Riley and Alex Wyndham, for a perfectly written and compellingly narrated Georgian romance. I started listening last night and reluctantly stopped several hours after my bedtime. Finished by listening all day today. The lead characters, Daniel and Anna, are irresistible in their separate challenges and how they surprise each other by coming together to overcome them. it is so invigorating to be treated to intelligent characters navigating difficult yet romantic circumstances- we root for them to find each other. The period details and the depiction of the world of England at the vigorous dawn of its epoch-making fine pottery industry are equally fascinating.

Smith is in fine form as he helps a beautiful, charming aristocrat pursue justice for her dead brother. The narrator performs with zest and flair. in fact, I know I enjoyed this book much more than I would have without the narrator's five star rendering. I admit I felt let down by the plot this time. It wasn't much of a mystery. It was more like a jigsaw puzzle - a metaphore the writer in fact plays with. How the puzzle is put together highlighted the talents and idiosyncratic nature's of the characters. I think I prefer the suspense and tight plotting of Grainger's Kings Lake series. Nonetheless, I'm a huge Grainger fan and can hardly wait for his next.
