Story
Former ace fighter pilot Bree Jagdea’s days of high-octane, white-knuckle dogfights are long behind her. Content with executing supply runs for the war effort, Jagdea considers herself retired. But when enemy forces start a relentless bombing campaign through the hive city of Vesperus, Jagdea is forced back into the Aeronautica – stationed with the infamous Circus 66 squadron, executing near-suicidal dead-drops and blistering interception runs through Vesperus’ lethal rat runs.

Desperate gambits are attempted: an unwilling saint is released into the ruins, as well as an enthusiastic sinner. A black sword rises, forged from spite, ready to create a legend. Another wondering Siege book. Anything is better than The First Wall, but I liked all of the arcs in this book. Honestly, the White Scars arc was the weakest one to me, but by no means bad in any way. I particularly loved how Wraight laid the groundwork for so much lore in 40k. Overall a great listen!

Literally goosebumps for half the book. If you have followed this series at all, this book is amazing. A bit slow in places with the usual Abnett micro-detail but wow. So many great twists and turns. An amazing roller coster ride! I really hope Abnett is done with The End and The Death Part 1 and 2 because I need the last book in the trilogy.
