Have you ever wondered what it might sound like to have Jimmy Stewart tell you to call him daddy? If so, you're in luck! I'm not even half way through the book, and while super hot... I can't stop hearing good old Jimmy.

I enjoy the story and the movement in this piece of the series. The female narrator... I had to look to make sure it wasn't AI, but nope, real person. It sounds like she may have gone to the Shatner school of narration. It's weird because her dialogue delivery is great, it's just the narration that drives me nuts.

What is it with all the full stops the male voice is giving us?! I don't mind that occasionally, the female voice loses her accent, but he reads like every sentence is a new chapter! I have to speed it up while he's reading just so it feels less awkward. They could really take out at least 2 beats after every one of his sentences and not have them run together.

That is all. Please continue.

Another one returned... I read this and enjoyed the story (even though it gets pretty juvenile at times) but I couldn't listen anymore. I DNF. The female voice was pretty good for the most part. Some inflections were weird and she sounded sort of valley girl sometimes, but the male.... no. All of the no. He sounded whiney and like he had something in his mouth he was talking around. Super unsexy. Parts of the book I laughed at when reading made me roll my eyes and cringe at the audible. Not a fan of this recording.

I tried to finish, but when I'm pausing the book so that I can listen to a co-worker's boring story about an animal that they saw in their backyard, I know it's time to stop. Maybe I'm chasing the Den of Vipers excitement, but this was just bland. How does an assassin stalker come off as bland?! The narration for Den was **chef's kiss** perfect. The female voice for this one came off as only whiney and scared for Layla, but somehow, I preferred her voice for Alaric over the male voice. There wasn't any tension, the smut wasn't as smutty as I thought it would be based on Alaric's inner monologue, and where in the heck did her aunt live?? Charleston? and she rode the bus to New York City and back in a day? Did I miss something somewhere? I got stuck on that too hard and had to look it up. I was more interested in the travel logistics than I was in the story. It's a 19 hour bus ride one way, by the way, although just driving is only 11 ish hours.

I have an hour and 45 minutes left, and I'll probably finish it. I liked the beginning of the book. I thought MFC was cute and just as awkward as her upbringing (or lack of) might cause. after awhile, I couldn't stand how full of herself and sex goddess she ended up acting. No one else could compare to her, just ask her. She treats her men like props for her life, and yet complains about them constantly.

Overall... meh. The action isn't very actiony. The narrators are.... okay... ? The female narrator's constant seductive purr may have leant itself to my opinion of the mfc 's sex goddess act, and it was a bit annoying. Male narrator seemed as though he was doing a buddy a favor reading this.

1 hr 40 minutes. Meh.

I can't finish it. i tried to chapter 29. I came to the reviews to see if maybe I was just being too picky. No. There are so many contradictory scenes. Bethany is brilliant (just ask her) and yet.... wow is she dumb. Damon speaks to her like she is a walking sex toy for him to play with, and she falls in love. He is so back and forth on whether or not he has feelings at all, and she sounds like she is going to cry every time she speaks, although that's mostly the narrator doing a woman voice, I think. i struggled through hoping for something... only to find out in the reviews that there are more books and this one isn't the end?! I'm going to nope in out of this one. Good luck!

I've owned this in paperback for years, but haven't had time for reading lately. The audible version is pretty good, although I'm not super excited by the narrator. I can't help but think that her version of Kyrian's voice sounds like Dracula from Hotel Transylvania, but maybe my 3-year-old has just made me watch that too many times. It did take me out of the story sometimes, though. I still love the story, even though I still roll my eyes when the heroine gets a terrible feeling about something, then decides it must just be her nerves, and does the dumb thing anyway. That's pretty common, but I wish these women would learn to "nope" out of those situations and trust themselves.

I've read this book series already in book form (loved it!!), and I like to listen to books at work, so win win! Except... I'm 2 chapters in and want to quit so I don't have to listen to "my" characters sound.... awful. The dialogue sounds stilted, even though I don't read it that way, and when did New Yorkers start sounding like they came from the South? I had to stop listening to write this review! I'm going back to the book now, but.... I'm not happy about it.

PS I love the story!

It always takes me out of the story when names or words in general aren't pronounced properly, and there are too many words/names said wrong in this performance. I haven't gotten used to this voice being Merry (a little too old sounding) and it definitely makes the Darkness sound ridiculous. I can understand a level of difficulty a female voice may have perfecting a male voice, but c'mon!! The men sound like slow, angry members of the Lollipop Guild!
