About this listen

The Monster King wants to play…

It's been 1097 days and 14 hours since I've been locked in this place. And they've come to me every night.

The monsters in my dreams worship my body, and when I wake up I'm desperate for more. But they’re never there to finish me off.

Dr. Adams says I can leave the asylum if I start to take my meds, but I've always hated how they made me feel...and I'm not sure that I agree with them that I'm actually crazy.

Because dreams don’t make you crazy, right?

I've got to start living someday though...so I finally take the plunge and obey so I can get out.

My dreams stop, and the monsters disappear. I’m finally starting a new life. That's when he comes: the monster king.

Evidently my little dreams weren't just dreams. He and his demon horde were feeding off my lust. Their glowing eyes, sharp teeth, and big…they’re all real.

The Monster King wants me back. I’m their favorite plaything, after all. And I just might want to play.

Monster’s Temptation is book one in the deliciously monstrous Monster & Me duet.

Not bad, not amazing

While the female narrator did have a weird way of pronouncing some words, my main issue was the pauses with the male narrator. I liked the story by the male chapters were hard to get through.

Production issues

Okay, here are my pros and cons of this book. Both narrators are amazing British narrators. I actually got this book because I love Lucas Webley. He is an amazing narrator. The weirdly long space pauses between sentences is definitely not his usual style. I would bet this is more of a production issue than anything else. Same thing with Zara Hampton-Brown. She’s an amazing narrator. Maybe some accent couching would help with her American accent. It’s not a bad accent but as a book narrator to an American ear, it’s obvious. If this was set in the uk with the same voice actors and a different production team it would be amazing. I don’t want to rate the entire audiobook poorly when the real issues aren’t available to rate.

I really hope they do a rerelease. It’s all fixable, just probably expensive. I like the story a lot. I love the narrators (in other books). There are mostly a production and setting issues. Otherwise it would be a big favorite for me. I’m just going to read it.

Fantastic!!!

Awesome story, awesome voices. Beautiful job!!!

My only comment is that there are some weird pauses after most of the phrases that the male voice actor does. Sounds like it’s from the editing? But not sure. Either way, totally loved it!!

Story decent, narrators not so much

As others have said, the narrators are not the best. The woman has a strange accent and the man has weird pauses. The story is still decent so I listened to the whole book, but not really worth a credit.

Great first story!

A great book one for a new series. Monsters is a new experience for me. This is only the second in the genre I’ve read and I wasn’t disappointed at all!
The story was good with a whole lot of dirty talk and smut! And hearing it in Lucas’ voice was a treat as always. The mild cliffhanger left me wanting the next book for sure so I can’t wait to continue on with this series!
The performance is dual narration which is fine. Lucas Webley’s voice is amazing as usual. The only issue I had was the weird pausing that persisted on his chapters. The editing left a very annoying stop gap which made me speed up the narration to try and make it less noticeable. The female narration was good, her pronunciation or accent or something made certain words just cringy to hear but it didn’t take away from the story or overall experience of listening to this book. It was just a little annoying for my own sensibilities.
Overall this will definitely be a series I recommend be read or listened to!!

Loved it!!! Monster smut with a story!!!

Great read! Audio was great. Males part was choppy and not smooth. Think more editing not the performers part. The story was there which kept it going.. and of course the monster smut!!!

New voice actors

I don’t know if it was the recording, the voice actors, or the editing. But man, the voice actors did not do a good job! The female was all right, and she did try her hardest to do multiple voices at once. The male actor, you would think I would be used to him from the Tate James books, but this time around it just seemed like his heart was not into it! He was awful! I listen to it at 3.0 speed and it was like he took the longest breaks between each sentence!!! Like wtf?!
Otherwise, the story was your typical monster smutt. It had every personality of every monster in it, the FMC was your typical one which was a little boring. The only favorite part about it was the intro! I loved that aspect of being thrown into an asylum. I wish you would find out more of what happened to her father I guess. Nothing tastes better than sweet revenge! Also, I appreciate the small amount of World-building so you can get an idea of your surroundings while reading. But overall… I may read the second book, but I had this in my TBR for like three years and I finally read the book because I’m meeting her in September. I think I’m gonna give her other stuff a shot because this one was just not up to par.
