Story
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Good story, very good reader. A small and insightful look at being different and coming to terms with it.

Story
Loch Ness holds secrets, ancient and deadly. Does a monster inhabit its depths, or is it just myth? Why, after thousands of reported sightings and dozens of expeditions, is there still no hard evidence? Marine biologist Zachary Wallace knows, but the shock of his near-drowning as a child on Loch Ness have buried all memories of the incident. Now, a near-death experience suffered while on expedition in the Sargasso Sea has caused these long-forgotten memories to resurface.

A pretty good story save for the endless lectures
Reviewed: 06-04-18
As my headline says it’s a pretty good story but I was frustrated by the seemingly endless lectures on history and biology contained within the story.

Story
Born in Boston, Stephen Bodio wandered into Magdalena, New Mexico, in the 1970s while on his way to Montana and never left. He was accompanied by Betsy Huntington, who was twenty years his senior; the couple had been inseparable from the day they met. After stumbling upon a vintage home along the highway, they settled into a country life; it was the perfect way for the two of them to make their lives together in an out-of-the-way place.

If only the reader had researched how to say Socorro.

What a wonderful book! I had read it but knew it would be perfect to listen to as we drove through Magdalena on our way home to Santa Fe. The authors mispronunciation of Socorro was like fingernails across a chalkboard interrupting the gorgeous prose that is Bodio's.

Not much of a mystery
Reviewed: 03-23-15
I liked this book and I really liked the readers but I was surprised it was in the mystery section. It's a fine story but not what I consider a mystery.

Too bad about the reader
Reviewed: 06-20-13
What made the experience of listening to The Fallen Man the most enjoyable?
The story.
What other book might you compare The Fallen Man to and why?
Any others in the series.
What didn’t you like about Christian Baskous’s performance?
You couldn't tell one character from another, all the voices were the same, everyone spoke at the same plodding pace. The characters never came alive and I struggled to follow the story because of that.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
No
