This story is a very clear and sincere love letter to shonen anime stories. Jokes and references abound, characterization is consistent, and it's just plain fun. Highly recommended!

Dakota's writing and inventiveness continues to grow. It's funny, a good story, and features actual character growth. Can't wait for the next one!

Christian does an amazing job as this book's narrator, bringing all of the characters to life.

A fun story with an interesting protagonist. Characters are all a bit one dimensional, yet and still a fun story to listen to.

This was a fantastic story, as expected from Neil Gaiman. I really dig how Gaiman crafts his own mythology from characters and concepts that have bien around for literally thousands of years.

There were some of story points that did not go anywhere, but I assume that this was due to other comic book tie-ins or for story threads that will be picked up in episode 2.

Well worth the listen.

Jakob Tanner improves his writing and storytelling with every new entry. I was very entertained by the creative uses the characters put their special abilities to.

The regular cast of characters progress in this story, not staying static. Without spoiling anything, relationship dynamics change and more tower history is revealed.

The narration is great, as usual, though some of the characters have nasally voices, which can be annoying, but a narrator only has so many voices they can make without making everyone sound the same, so this is not a major complaint.

Two Thumbs WAY up. This is this best book in the series so far.

Well defined characters? Check.
Character development? Check.
A Smattering of Character sheets and item stats? Check.

The focus here is all in the story. No romance. No stupid MC. Just a fearless action hero driven by mostly realistic motivations.

Two Thumbs WAY up!

This was a very enjoyable book to listen to. Eric Michael Summerer does a fantastic job, as always. Al though the story starts out with something similar to the standard tropes, there are some twists that make it unique. The lack of make power fantasy tropes was refreshing and it's great to see LitRPG authors move beyond them.

Highly recommended and well worth your credit!

Fun story. Great narration, as always. Inventive use of Abilities. I found myself urging Max to use his powers in specific ways, and he did!

Overall, this was a great sequel to the first book with a better balance between tower-climbing elements and story development. I can't wait for the next book!
