Story
After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves—her dragons, her family, her home, and him.

Clearly written for fans...

It was a good read! But the names, maybe because i am not a fan, were very confusing to me.
Someone called Onyx Storm a 'Name Storm' and i agree.
Too many names i had to really wreck my brain about, for example Quinn:
It was supposed to be an emotional scene, but my brain was going the whole tim: who the €:€3); is Quinn??
The new POV's of Rhi and Imogen i found very boooooring. It was a relief to go back to Xaden. So probably i have to read a lot of fan theories to understand what i've just read.
Maybe it would've been better if it was less complicated?

To use it, she must survive the next thirty days by forming a devil's bargain with the people she hates most: the royal family of House Corbois. First half was great, the second half was flawed
Reviewed: 01-21-25
The first half of the book was excellent! But after the midpoint she really lost the plot. What a shame! Otherwise it would have been my favourite new series of 2024.
The ending was a infodump to introduce the third book. That was a real shame! That made it a really sloppy and uninteresting ending

I liked the characters, they become really alive and you really experience the story through their eyes.
The worldbuilding is great, an often used trope, but still it is an unique twist.
Can't wait to read the next book!

Waste of money...i am done with this series
Reviewed: 01-11-25
There is so much wrong with this book:
- no emergency from the beginning. The MC is allmost killed, but the moment is so blasé. And then, she is saved. Tadaa!
- The MC was the funny, superficial side-character... so from the beginning it lacks depth. There is just nothing substantial.
- the backstories were so *crinch*, this was just sloppy and lazy writing
- there is hardly any romance. Oh...you want more? Then you have to buy the next book! Major cliffhanger!
- the story as if written by someone with ADHD. It goes everywhere and here and back. And the end you could see coming for miles and miles....

In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn. The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs its claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.

A little Acotar here, a little of other books there.
It was just a great story but i would have expected more after her last series which was so raw and special and unique.
So nice to read but not something i would love to read another time.

War has broken out between Annwyn and Orea, though that’s not the only battle being waged. There’s a fight inside me, and it’s one I’m determined to win, no matter how much they try to strip me down and hollow me out. Yet they’ve forgotten one thing. The ancient magic of the pair bond. One can never truly be lost when two souls are already bound. Because Slade and I? We are connected by more than just fated magic, and we will always find each other. In any life.

A fantastic ending to one of my favorite series. Was it perfectly written? No! Did it make me feel all kind of feelings? Absolutely!
I could feel the writers love for this story, and sometimes with the last book of a series, thats not the case.
A lot of new characters wete introduced, wich is a really bad choise from the writer. But the performance was sadly, just like the previous book, horrible.
This voice actress should never do a book again. Instead of making the male characters sexy, she succeeded in making them sound like a scary clown. So all the spicy scenes went out like a flame.

It all ends now. But Every end is also a beginning. I was supposed to die. If it weren’t for Slade, I would have. But he tore a hole the world I know and I went through it. To Annwyn. To home. Annwyn is the realm of the fae, a magical place full of beauty and danger. Here, I am known as Lyäri Ulvêre – the golden one gone. And there are people in this world who want to keep me that way. Such a pity that the voice actor for the main character has changed from the first books 😪 Had to remind myself it was Auren because of that. Felt like it was a completely new book.
That's why i gave the performance 2 stars.
The story was good, the beginning was good, but the world building in the fae world lacked depth.
But overall very good. Because i love the characters so much alteady--) an overal five stars.
