The first book has some of the same issues but I pushed past them hoping it would get better, but I'm starting to actively dislike the author for how much he just railroads the main instances. It began to feel like swiss cheese with all of the plot holes and forced circumstances. Add to that the fabricated drama and I dropped it near the end.

It's a fun story, but the super boss woman who has to keep the guys in line stereotype used for every single female character is starting to get pretty annoying. Not sure if I'll pick up the next one or not.

the main character let's everyone blame him for everything. so frustrating for a series I want to like. then he makes a contrived bad decision that sorta makes them right. I'm starting to hate the author.

some elements are fun, but the whole men are evil and keep women down trope was both annoying and lacked any nuance to make it believable for the story

good premise, but the characters don't act how it would make sense. it wouldn't be bad if it wasn't such a trope, but the he main female character is also an eye roller.

Its rare that I don't have at least a few things that detract from a story. While I could probably dredge up a few issues, It was just a plain fun read. Liked the premise, liked the characters, found the power system interesting. A few minor plot holes, but nothing that ruined the story

it was a good premise, but the number of plot holes is pretty bad. if you can ignore plot holes it's not a bad read.

The premise and start are pretty good. The scientific exploration of magic. When you get a few hours into the book you realize that all of that is just superficial, and it's like watching a app store game commercial that is nothing like the real game. Also not a big fan of all of the lgbt+ stuff added for seemingly no other reason than the author is trying to convey their world view. While it's not quite as heavy handed as some authors it's still annoying.
