Story
The Witch's Reign...a land of unnatural hellish cold ruled over by the Ice Witch herself, who is in turn guarded by three creatures - Wolf, Bear, and Raven. Those lovely beasts derive their power directly from their mistress and just happen to kill any who cross their paths. To get there, you first must pass through the Dragon's Ground. Full of, you guessed it, dragons who for the record, also do not like trespassers. Sounds like a fun place to go, doesn't it? Yeah, not so much.

Young, Strong Fantasy

Zam is a strong female lead. i was already a fan of both the author and narratrix. This series is a multi-layered story that unravels a little at a time, just giving away enough to make the plotline work. It's almost pure Fantasy, but there is enough real-world subject matter to make it Urban Fantasy. By the time i got to the end of this book, i was hooked.

There are things in this world that men and women aren't meant to understand. We aren't supposed to know these things exist, much less how to fight them. The things that go bump in the night, the monsters in the closet, the shadow out of the corner of your eye - that's where I live.

Quincy Harker is a dark, snarky wizard who has a more flexible moral compass than a lot of people. He consorts with angels and demons, werewolves, cops, feds, and normal humans. He also fights with all of the above. He's an a$$hole with a bad attitude and a heart of gold. I would totally reccomend to anyone who loves Demon Accords, Mercy Thompson, Iron Druid, Jane Yellowrock, MHI, etc. The storyline is familiar, yet different, like if you mixed Dresden and Sandman Slim. It's really hard to put down my headphones and work.

Okay, I'm going to admit to being really hooked on this series. I enjoy a lot of genres, and this universe scratches a ton of my itches. Humor, romance, urban fantasy, sci-fi, aliens, government, kickass female main characters, etc. My FAVORITE series I keep relistening to are TKGU, Anita Blake (way more sex than TKG, but a lot of the same sentiments), The Demon Accords (the main character is male, but he admits his female counterpart is superior), Expeditionary Force (again, male protagonist who submits to the alien AI [and if you are looking for recs in reviews, make sure you get past chapter ten in the story, because that's where it gets addictive.]), and a lot of other stories. if you need to decompress from TKG, switch to something completely different. like horror or mystery. My older brother, my son, and my dad are also huge fans of this series. It's intelligent, emotional, sweet, and funny.

I am literally addicted to this series! I freaking love the narrator and only read this series because of it. I usually sway more toward the romantic comedy, true sci-fi, or space opera genres when I'm trying a series. Demon accords is so different from from anything else I've listened to, that it has become one of my de facto pallet-cleansing series. just to be clear, my other major pallet cleanser is Virgin River, for romance, or Anita Blake for paranormal smut. I also love zombies, apocalypse novels, horror, and most genres. this series is just a huge favorite fallback when I have nothing to listen to. enjoy! i just bought the newest book!

Okay, so I took my time listening to this one, because I forgot the main gist of the plot. I've read this series before, and it gutted me. At this point, though, I'm okay with the way this episode ends. I cried, but I'll survive. I don't know how to recommend this series except to say suspend your disbelief, believe in romance under pressure, and don't get too squeamish with sexytimes. There is a ton of angsty stuff, but it adds to the main plot. Don't despair. Read on!

Holy crap! Wow! So, this book takes form in Gunther's POV. I'm going to try to be circumspect, and not give anything away, but it is dangerously close to the redemption arc in book one, which took place from Elaina's POV. Let me just say, it's a wild ride. There are moments of triumph, agony, and some ugly-cry moments. It was real eye-opener to the dire straits we might face in a true apocalypse. Plus, there is lots of great sex...

Epic love story? Check. Zombies and loads of gore? Check. More drama than an entire season of Real Housewives? Check. This story has loads of action, angst, and crazy plot twists! I read this series on Kindle, several years ago, and I was happy to see it on Audible. I'd forgotten how completely nuts the characters were! I'm completely hooked, all over again! Special shoutout to the narrator for mastering American accents. Both middle American and southern.

In fact, my dad is restarting the ENTIRE series, starting today, because I can't shut up about it, when i visit.

Phenomenal world building, rich character development, even with minor characters, and excellent narration all combine to make this an epic saga. I want to hang out with these characters! They're such a diverse group of people, all working towards the same goal in the end. I hope there are more books coming.
