Urban Fantasy Where Good Kicks *%# and I Loved It

From the very first chapter of the first book of “The Demon Accords”, it immediately grabbed my attention and has held my attention throughout the entire 12 books; and it still left me wanting more. This is a great Series appealing to our visceral sense of righteous justice. Written in first person we meet Chris Gordon, a young police officer with the ability to vanquish demons. He is a very likable main character that exhibits all of the traits of a hero; humble, yet very capable with a strong sense of morality.
I have to say I usually I don’t go for this type of genre, but this series is not the typically hero fights monsters story; in fact some of the stereotypical monsters found in other books are actually the hero’s in this story as well, and the relationships that Gordon develops with these other characters is one of the main reasons that I like this series so much.
I was also impressed, as I listened through the other books, that there was no let down in the quality or the experience of the expanding story. The added characters are just as strong and interesting as the original cast giving new dimensions to the story. There are many other series that seem to have “filler books,” that aren’t that good and you read through them just to get to the next one; in my opinion every book in “The Demon Accords,” was a great addition.
If I had to criticize anything it would be the title of the series; I think maybe “The Supernatural Accords,” might be a more apt title; but who am I to judge.
About the narrator, James Patrick Cronin, I really like listening to his narration; in fact I’m looking for other books he has narrated. He really does a great job.
I recommend this series if you like urban fantasy and strong main characters that simply kick but.

This Author is worth supporting

Any additional comments?

I have already read all of the books in this series on my kindle and now see that they are available on Audible. John Conroe is an Author worth supporting and feel he more than deserves the additional credit so that I can listen as well as read his books. Thank you for a story well told.

Good book

I like the story a lot but agree, with other reviews, about the narrator. I like to know what character is speaking without being told. That is somewhat lacking in this book. Hopefully that will improve as the series goes on.

I will continue the series because it does drive me to continue listening.

Fast-Paced, Funny, and Passionate Hero-smithing A+

Marked it finished before the sample of book 2 because I couldn't wait to start the second-in-series. Sophisticated, sarcastic humor and up-beat dynamic plot with good guys to love and bone head bad guys tripping all over their cop shoes. None of the foggy, gloomy excessively wordy scenery syrup but excellent context backdrop woven in to support suspension of disbelief and make this one a 'stay up at night to see what happens' peice. If it were a painting I'd think impressionistic. ABSOLUTELY TRY IT !

Loved it

Great story, I like that the storyline isn’t just about a persons struggle to overcome challenges but feels more organic in the sense that life unfolds and having understand the turmoil with in can be a struggle in it self. Great story so far. I’m moving right on to the next one.

I've found a new series!

I wasn't sure if I would like this book, but I loved it. The story is interesting, the narrator is great, and I like that it's set in New York.

The scenes of New York are accurate. The New York accents are exaggerated but I can live with that. I guess I miss home enough to like anything that brings me a piece of NYC.

Back to the overall story...it's well told and moves fast. There is enough background and exposition but not too much. I'll be reading more of this series.
