Aside from the mentions of actual film and typewriters, this book could be set in 2024. I read it when it came out and found the listen perhaps even more compelling. This book contains timeless truths and reminds us now more than ever how much we need to pray.

Story
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

My all time favorite book

I have read this book and The Queen's Code at least yearly foe many years, and the reminders never get old. I was delighted to find this one on Audible and will listen much more often than I have time to read. After an arduous listen, this was the perfect way to lift my spirits. I love hearing Alison narrate, and value the content so much. 8 years ago I was headed to divorce court. Today my husband and I enjoy each other more than ever, in great part to what I have learned from Alison. Grab this one. listen. listen again. There is a whole new world waiting for you.

Story
In her harrowing, defiant, and unforgettable memoir, Sarah Ramey recounts the decade-long saga of how a seemingly minor illness in her senior year of college turned into a prolonged and elusive condition that destroyed her health but that doctors couldn't diagnose or treat. Worse, as they failed to cure her, they hinted that her devastating symptoms were psychological. The Lady's Handbook for Her Mysterious Illness is a memoir with a mission: to help the millions of (mostly) women who suffer from unnamed or misunderstood conditions.

difficult, exhausting, and so very important
Reviewed: 08-24-22
I listened to this on behalf of my friends, so many who have mysterious illnesses, so that I could be a better friend to them. it was so hard to listen to, but not nearly as hard as living even one day in their shoes. and I emerge as hopefully a better friend to them, and definitely a better friend to me. Thank you Sarah for your gift to the world. may it begin a much needed healing.

I found myself making time to exercise so I could listen more. The story is compelling, well written, and well narrated. It was as enjoyable as a novel, but with a purpose. I hope this will show the world the power of redemption and begin to change how we view giving people second chances.

Terrible in every aspect.
Reviewed: 06-06-21
The narration was impossible to follow. This appears to be a collection of articles rather than a cohesive book. Articles are repeated, some at least 3 times. There is no real information on menopause. The content is contradictory on many levels. The grammar is atrocious. Save yourself the headache. I put it on 2x speed to see if it would get better and I still couldn't stand to listen to all of it. Gin Stephens and Jason Fung are the experts. I would recommend you stick with them. I don't believe in returning audio books, but I'm tempted with this one. I've never had any other book provide such profound disappointment.
