#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • John Grisham delivers high-flying international suspense in a stunning legal thriller that marks the return of Mitch McDeere, the brilliant hero of The Firm.

“A breathtaking update on the McDeeres and the life they made . . . Grisham, in vintage form, ratchets up the suspense in this winning sequel.” —The Wall Street Journal

What became of Mitch and Abby McDeere after they exposed the crimes of Memphis law firm Bendini, Lambert & Locke and fled the country? The answer is found in The Exchange, the riveting sequel to The Firm, the blockbuster thriller that launched the career of America’s favorite storyteller. It is now fifteen years later, and Mitch and Abby are living in Manhattan, where Mitch is a partner at the largest law firm in the world. When a mentor in Rome asks him for a favor that will take him as far as Istanbul and Tripoli, Mitch finds himself at the center of a sinister plot that has worldwide implications. Once again Mitch’s colleagues, friends, and family are targeted. Mitch is a master at staying one staying one step ahead of his adversaries, but this time there’s nowhere to hide.

Don’t miss John Grisham’s latest novel, Camino Ghosts, and the upcoming Framed, his first work of nonfiction since The Innocent Man!

Critic reviews

"Narrator Edoardo Ballerini masterfully narrates this sequel, reacquainting listeners with Mitch and Abby McDeere 15 years after their harrowing misadventures in THE FIRM.... Ballerini leverages his talent with accents as the action moves back and forth from New York to Rome, Libya, Morocco, and Maine. Impressively, Ballerini also finds credible voices for Abby, who plays a big role, and for the McDeeres' twin 8-year-old sons.... The result is a well-narrated audiobook." (AudioFile)

Editorial Review

The long-awaited sequel to The Firm does not disappoint
Edoardo Ballerini delivers a suspense-filled performance of this sequel to John Grisham’s bestselling 1991 novel (and the 1993 film starring Tom Cruise), The Firm. It’s been 15 years since Mitch and Abby McDeere fled Memphis. They’re now living in Manhattan with their 8-year-old twin sons, and Mitch is a partner at one of New York’s biggest law firms. When a colleague is kidnapped in Libya, Mitch must navigate international intrigue to thwart the impending execution and come up with the staggering $100 million ransom. Ballerini’s taut narration pairs well with Grisham’s short chapters, perfectly building up the urgency of the story’s drama for a thrilling, pulse-pounding listen. —Margaret H., Audible Editor

The narrator is the only highlight

So incredibly bad. Just skip it. if you do choose to forage ahead, get ready for terrific character development for people you don't need to know and a predictable story that leads nowhere.

Worst Grisham novel !

I have read all his novels and listened to many of them numerous times. Don’t waste your credit on this one.

Tired

It was tired, and I am now tired. Can’t quite put my finger on it, but I was expecting more…

Disappointed

Fluff about raising $$ to ransom a character you care nothing about. Was expecting a story.

A major disappointment

I was so looking forward to this book. As it went on, I was anticipating a twist, but then it just…ended. I fear that John Grisham has gone the way of Danielle Steele, and just churns books out for the money.

I am astonished

This was the most disappointing book I’ve read in years. It could’ve been told in 5 chapters. There aren’t any twists or turns. It’s just so drawn out. I really could not believe when it ended, that there was nothing more. I kept waiting for some twist or revelation. Down to the last few seconds…. But nothing. I feel like I wasted hours of my life listening to this. Narration was good.

Disappointed

Author veered too far off of what I expected a sequel to the Firm. Mitch McDeer had no business being in the Middle East. He needed to stay where the author took him in the first couple of chapters.

Disappointing

John Grisham must have been tired when he wrote this. It was enthralling in the beginning and then … pfft.

Not what I expected.

Really looking forward to this book. Disappointing overall. I would like to see another “firm” book.

A Firm Meh!

I have read and reread nearly everything that Grisham has published. I always find additional fax nuances when re-reading a read, listening to almost every Grisham book. Not this time.

This story, barely updates, Mitch and Abby. Gives you almost none of the page, turning excitement of The Firm and I hate to say it, but it feels like Grisham was out for a quick payday on this one. If you haven’t bought it already, don’t waste your money, If you haven’t read or listened to it already, don’t waste your time.
