Story
How do you define yourself when others have already decided who you are? Six years ago, when Camden Daniels came back from war without his younger brother, no one in the small town of Alba, Colorado, would forgive him - especially his father. He left, swearing never to return. But a desperate message from his father brings it all back. The betrayal. The pain. And the need to go home again. But home is where the one person he still loves is waiting. Willow. The one woman he can never have. Because there are secrets buried in Alba that are best left in the dark.

Great romance with a great story line
Reviewed: 05-11-24
This was an excellent book to listen to as it held my attention the entire time. The characters were all very well developed. It also had a very good storyline, so it wasn’t just about the romance between two great characters. I’d recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for a romantic novel with a good storyline that is compelling and heartbreaking at the same time. Excellent book.

Great story based on, unfortunately real life events, although fictionalized

This book kept my attention from the beginning to the very end. I liked all of the characters, and I liked the budding romance. This was a very different type of book that I usually read by this author. I really enjoyed the mystery and the fast pace of this book. Hopefully, it will reach enough people and people can keep educating, our parents, teachers and youth on the risks of human trafficking.

Mystery mixed with romance and suspense

This book has a good mix of mystery mixed with romance. That was not overly descriptive and suspense. It made this book hard to put down. This book showed how much love is out there. I recommend this book.

Teens can be capable of making good decisions

This is a story about a romance where they had been together and broken up before. I love how they developed the mother daughter relationship in this book. This book takes on a serious subject of teen pregnancy. And I felt like the pregnancy was handled with care. I like how they thought through all their options. I really like the ending of this book. It was hard to put down at times. Definitely one of the better books in the series.

Seemed like they were a part more than they were together
Reviewed: 04-18-24
While I felt like the story kept on moving, and it held my attention it seems like they were fighting or apart more than they were together. And it was more about the struggle to get together than it was for him not to forget her. But I still enjoyed the book. It was fast paced enough and held your attention enough but just not a five star book.

Great high school romance
Reviewed: 04-16-24
Although I am an adult, it is nice to take a break from some of the adult romance books, which seem to involve sex, sex, and more sex. This book is a young adult book and the setting is in a high school and it’s nice to see how the couples deal with the challenges of romantic relationships. The performance was excellent. The story kept me interested the entire time. I really liked British boy. It kept the story fresh and the reader intrigued.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

Very dark subject matter

To me, it seem like it took a little while for the book to get interesting. But when it did, it definitely revealed it’s very dark subject matter. As it went on, you could definitely understand the title. It was performed well, but definitely not a light read or listen.
