Liked revisiting Camino Island and its inhabitants; found Miss Lovely and the African contingent dogged, inexcusably abused and admirable. The enslavers were predictably despicable. Bruce, Mercer and Co. were privileged yet merciful, but never really compelling. Liked intro of Diane and Steven. Esp. enjoyed Whoopi’s reading.

Once again, Picoult does not disappoint, with careful, relevant, engrossing storytelling. I was swept away, not just by a relatable character, but by each character in turn. School shootings will not subside in this country until each of us cares about the shooters as well as the victims.

Really enjoyed this. Entertaining. Thanks. I needed that—though the story could have stood on its own, humor made it so much better.

This is an obviously appreciative but understated and beautifully read book about the Supreme Court’s second female justice. It mirrors the firmly persuasive but inclusive manner of RBG. I very much liked its emphases on lesser known facts, its incisive quality and, especially, its subject Herself.
