Story
When the governor of Wyoming gives Joe Pickett the thankless task of taking a tech baron on an elk hunting trip, Joe reluctantly treks into the wilderness with his high-profile charge. But as they venture into the woods, a man-hunter is hot on their heels, driven by a desire for revenge. Finding himself without a weapon, a horse, or a way to communicate, Joe must rely on his wits and his knowledge of the outdoors to protect himself and his companion.

Another satisfying Joe Pickett installment!

I just finished Dark Sky, and I’m enjoying a rosy afterglow because the story was robust and flavorful as a good story is.
The pacing of the action within the story was good, not too slow but also not so fast a reader would have difficulty keeping up with the story as it developed. In my opinion this can be a difficult balance to keeping the reader turning the pages well after midnight.

I read a wide variety of books, so if a book can't capture my attention in the first five pages I give up on it. This story had me right from the start. The details and descriptive words in virtually every sentence are what held me and kept me wanting to hear more.
I truly look forward to the next installment by Mr. Phillips.

A must listen to if you can’t read and work at the same time! A modern day western including several epic showdowns for the characters involved from the most basic down to the utter primal levels of humanity.
