About this listen

Welcome to Walt Longmire's worst nightmare.

In Craig Johnson's latest mystery, Depth of Winter, an international hit man and the head of one of the most vicious drug cartels in Mexico has kidnapped Walt's beloved daughter, Cady, to auction her off to his worst enemies, of which there are many.

The American government is of limited help and the Mexican one even less. Walt heads into the 110-degree heat of the Northern Mexican desert alone, one man against an army.

Critic reviews

"George Guidall, the longtime narrator of the series, captures Longmire's sense of urgency from the outset.... Walt's trademark absurd--often hilarious--problem solving is on full display, and the good-versus-evil struggles of these new characters make for totally satisfying listening." (AudioFile)

Great as always.

In spite of the negative reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I have all of the previous ones. The only negative for me is the wait until the next book. :)

Worth the wait

Great Longmire story. Started off at a good pace, and held it through the whole book. Have you ever been to the bull fights?

After the horrible last book this is a winner

I have loved all the Longmire books except the last one which had such a ridiculous conclusion I was afraid to listen to this one...but was sooooo great. I missed Henry’s involvement and the rest of the normal cast but this book is a winner. Loved it and am bummed to wait another year for his next book.

Good ole Walt

The things this man suffers due to his code of honor is astounding... but worth it in the end... I think.

Ending a little weird.

I did not like the ending. It seemed a little too detached from the story.

steady on craig

as I've come to expect. the writing and performance are amazing. Walt is and always will be "the man". Craig writes him as the person we all want to be who can sit tall in the saddle, with steel in his spine, and keep in mind, empathy, and a moral anchor the size of a battleship. this was beautifully written as always thank you Craig.
