Been a member of Audible many years and this book has the worst narration. Can't get past the reader's rising intonation - most of her sentences sound like questions. I'm intrigued with the novel so it will be one better read the old fashion way.

Not my favorite Pendergast

Overall
3 out of 5 stars

I've read all the Pendergast books and thought this was pretty good but I noticed small flaws and credibility issues throughout the story. It did seem to be more violent than previous novels which I found surprising. Good narrration by Rene and it kept me entertained. Didn't like the ending, it was so abrupt with loose ends.

Good story, terrible female narration/character

Overall
3 out of 5 stars

I'm not sure what was worse, the dialog of Michelle or the narration, both made her character snarky and sarcastic. Her one-liners seemed completely unrealistic and on top of that, bad narration.....very difficult to listen to. Probably better to read this one since the story was pretty good.

I thought this was a pretty good book for the most part. I didn't really care for the narrator at first, but as the story line picked up, I found I was no longer annoyed by her voice.

The Jury's Out, Part 1...

Overall
4 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 10-17-10

I'm writing this review after listening to part 1&2 (out of 4). I've listened or read every novel Mr. Follett has written over the years, as far back as Triple and Key to Rebecca and of course, POTE and WWE. I can't help finding this book, well, a bit boring. I will continue to listen because I still have high hopes that something will draw me into the story and knowing that 2 more sequels are to follow, I have to believe it will pick up. I will say, the book makes me want to polish up on my WW1 history and the events leading up to the war. I plan to post another review after finishing part 3&4.

Lucas is back...

Overall
4 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 06-07-10

After being disappointed by the last two Prey novels with Lucas Davenport, I was concerned that Mr. Sandford had lost his edge with the Prey series. Not so with this book, Lucas is in good form, along with all the other characters we've come to know over the years. Okay, maybe a bit predictable - but who cares. And listening to Richard Ferrone is always a pleasure - he's got that "growl" that fits perfectly for Lucas.

Go to the library....

The narration of this book was really really bad. Her interpretation of the characters was distracting and got on my nerves quickly - I stopped listening mid way through the book. Since the story was ok, I recommend you read rather than listen to this one.

For the most part, the book was entertaining BUT the constant use of the main character's name in every sentence of dialog became tedious. No one talks like that! It became so distracting I couldn't finish the book.

No more....

I GIVE UP! I've been a fan of Mr. Woods since White Cargo, Palindrome and early Stone novels but his last 4 or 5 books have been ridiculous. Stone Barrington's character has become completely unrealistic and absurd. Who talks like that? And, don't get me going on the narrator - he has to be the worst in my library collection of over 400 titles. No more wasted credits on Stuart Woods - even Holly Barker from his other books has gone over the top.

Dark Harbor Audiobook By Stuart Woods cover art

Pass on this book

Overall
2 out of 5 stars

This was not my favorite Stuart Woods novel. Although he brought together many favorite characters from past novels, the dialog was too predictable and unrealistic. I've listened to 100's of books and this narrator was the worst I've suffered through.
