About this listen

From the number-one New York Times best-selling master of suspense comes a fast-paced, emotion-packed novel about guilt, grief, and our capacity to forgive.

Seventeen-year-old Haley McWaid is a good girl, the pride of her suburban New Jersey family, captain of the lacrosse team, headed off to college next year with all the hopes and dreams her doting parents can pin on her. Which is why, when her mother wakes one morning to find that Haley never came home the night before, and three months quickly pass without word from the girl, the community assumes the worst.

Wendy Tynes is a reporter on a mission, to identify and bring down sexual predators via elaborate and nationally televised sting operations. Working with local police on her news program Caught in the Act, Wendy and her team have publicly shamed dozens of men by the time she encounters her latest target. Dan Mercer is a social worker known as a friend to troubled teens, but his story soon becomes more complicated than Wendy could have imagined.

In a novel that challenges as much as it thrills, filled with the astonishing tension and unseen suburban machinations that have become Coben's trademark, Caught tells the story of a missing girl, the community stunned by her loss, the predator who may have taken her, and the reporter who suddenly realizes she can't trust her own instincts about this story - or the motives of the people around her.

The narrator is not that bad good grief...

I’m so glad I ignored the reviews and gave this a listen. Yes the male characters sound a bit strange but she is still a really good story teller. Plus it’s a Coben story so it’s got great twists and turns and soon the narrator is just someone on the back burner of your imagination. Give it a try you won’t regret it.

Twists and Turns

I have read Harlan Coben for many years now and he always keeps me guessing. I rarely figure the ending he envisions. His books are always fascinating and I enjoy the characters. This book does not dissappoint.

Spider web Story

Very good story,I couldn't get anything right. Which is good because it kept me listening. I loved it, every chapter uncovers something but your still unsure of what's next.

Different than his norm.

Okay I guess, definitely twists and turns, I just didn’t like this one as well as I have liked Harlan’s other novels. This, however, will not stop me from wanting more. I LOVE this man’s writing ability and imagination.

Interesting plot, but poorly written

I always look forward to a new book by Harlan Coben. This got good reviews on Audible, but I found it disappointing. I thought the plots twists and turns were interesting, but the dialogue wasn't believable and many parts were written as though by a high schooler--getting the plot moving but with ordinary language. The reader didn't lift the poor writing out of the hole so that didn't help.
