Well done
Reviewed: 02-10-25
I first started this series and wondered how one could possible write sooooo many books on one topic. Most zombie stuff is way overdone and becomes more about people vs people while the zombie threat is a mere after thought. I’ve said this before while reviewing another book in this series. But I’m still surprised every time. The story keeps going and getting better, without getting stale or overly predictable. The only struggle is waiting for more books!

Got hooked quick
Reviewed: 01-30-25
I got hooked so fast with this series. I was kind of pissed when it ended. I hungered for more! Luckily this author has tons of books. I’ve basically become a walking billboard for him. This last book sort of ends on what feels like a cliffhanger. But not in a bad way, in a way that makes you think.

Knock out, as usual

This book is fine as a stand alone book, but tied in to the series perfectly. It was fun to see snaps back in time. There’s a bit of a different perspective in events that have already happened in the last 15 books. Highly recommend anything by Mr. Haywood

Fantastic, yet again
Reviewed: 01-30-25
Rr Haywood is basically my favorite author. Anything and everything I’ve listened to or read by him is extremely difficult to put down. I blow through the books faster than I have any other books in a long time. I used to get in trouble as a kid because I wouldn’t stop reading, but nothing has hooked me like that until I found this author. This book is good on its own, but it ties in to a few other series. It is pretty intense though, so if that’s not your cup of tea this isn’t for you. If you don’t mind it, then I’ve got about 30 book recommendations for you

Unexpected twist
Reviewed: 01-20-25
This has some tropes that have been mentioned in the reviews already. Old friends coming back together after 20 years, death of a father leading to inheriting a home in a town he tried to escape from. But there was a twist that I didn’t see. Didn’t even think about it and I’m normally pretty good about that stuff. It didn’t hit me until seconds before it was revealed. Sneaky sneaky, well done

Hurry UP!!!!
Reviewed: 01-06-25
The books have suddenly gotten so much shorter, and I listen on 1.5 speed at the slowest, so I’ve gone through the last few way too fast. I know that really it’s not that long until 28 is available, and I’m sure 29 and 30 will follow shortly. But last month I listened to over 200 hours on audible, so a month between books is multiple lifetimes for me. I LOVE these books. I get annoyed at work when I have to pause it to talk to people. Nothing matters except this book.

Repeated sentences
Reviewed: 12-16-24
I thought my app was freaking out with how many sentences and phrases are just being repeated. Sometimes it’s a pause in a sentence before it continues, but given the context it doesn’t sound like someone is just stammering. It seems to be an editing mistake. I never noticed it in any of the other books, so it’s a one off mistake, not a huge deal. Just super noticeable around chapter 25. It’s still a great story and shouldn’t stop you from continuing

Fantastic story
Reviewed: 10-01-24
I love this book! I listen to it and/ or read it at least once or twice a year. I first watched the show, which I also watch once a year at least. And I love finding the elements that cross over, what they kept from the book and how they changed things but kept the true character of Hill House in tact. The narration is done quite well. The story is a classic. It is written in a way that doesn’t answer all of your questions, but still leaves you satisfied at the end. I wish there was more

Story
Sol Reyes has had a rough year. After a series of workplace incidents at her university lab culminates in a plagiarism accusation, Sol is put on probation. Dutiful visits to her homophobic father aren’t helping her mental health, and she finds her nightly glass of wine becoming more of an all-day—and all-bottle—event. Her wife, Alice Song, is far more optimistic. After all, the two finally managed to buy a house in the beautiful gated community of Maneless Grove. However, the neighbors are a little too friendly in Sol’s opinion.

Narration sounded off
Reviewed: 09-15-24
The Narration was rough. The desire to finish the story was all that kept me going, and in the end I feel like I missed something anyway. The narrator did not sound realistic, until the very end when she introduced herself. It sounded like a different person. The story was read in a way that most humans do not speak. Some reviews claim AI, which I can see. It was very much like a computer was reading the story to us. The story itself was fine, but I’d recommend reading the physical copy
