Male narrator ruined it for me
Reviewed: 11-21-20
I should have listened to the sample first. This could have been a great story. I imagine if I’d just read this in regular book form I’d be writing a very different review. I kept forcing myself to keep going because the story was pretty interesting but I had to stop around halfway through because the male narrator was ruining it for me ☹️ Idk something about the writing mixed with his voice made certain scenes very unbelievable.

I stayed up all night listening to it, that’s how good it was. Narration starts off a bit slow/monotone. But I hardly noticed it after a while. This will definitely be a book that I listen to again. 100% worth the credit.

Story
Returning home for her father’s wedding was never going to be easy for Adele. If being sent away at 18 hadn’t been bad enough, the mess she left behind when she made a pass at her dad’s business partner sure was. Fifteen years older than her, Pete had been her crush for as long as she could remember. But she’d misread the situation - confusing friendliness for undying love. Awkward. Seven years on, things are different. Adele is no longer a kid, but all it takes is seeing him again to bring back all those old feelings.

Good story but missing something
Reviewed: 10-10-20
Kylie Scott can write a better book than this. Without giving any spoilers, I didn’t get the true essence of Pete. I didn’t understand his feelings until the end of the book and it was very frustrating. It is a good story, that I mostly enjoyed but it could have been a beautiful story if Pete had some more to him. Andi Arndt was great, as always. Really love her as a narrator.

On the run from my cruel captors, I stumble into Grayhaven. This secret supernatural settlement is packed with biker demons, fae royals, and witches dealing in death-magic. Their small town could be my salvation...or doom. But when the Grayhaven werewolf pack tracks me down, I feel the noose of impending capture tightening around my throat. I’m an omega, the least dominant werewolf in the supernatural world. If I’m given an order - any order - I’m powerless to refuse.

Story
Growing up, Ramsey Stewart branded my soul in ways time could never heal. At 12, he asked me to be his girlfriend. At 13, he gave me my first kiss. By 16, we’d fallen in love, planned a future together, and had our eyes set on the horizon. Love never fails, right? But for Ramsey, it did. I failed him. The entire world failed him. At 17, Ramsey was convicted of killing the boy who assaulted me. "Move on", he wrote in his first and only letter from prison. There was no such thing as giving up on Ramsey. Love may have been our curse, but he was mine - then, now, and forever.

Story
Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can't tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city itself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal-registration act, times haven't been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay for a bit, and let the mortals calm down. But that's when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black - and things really start getting ugly.

I honestly was very happy when this book ended. I’d fallen in love with the series but this book fell flat. I think it’s the repetitiveness of it all that made it difficult to finish. It’s the same blueprint for every book. I’m going to try out the next book to see if the series is worth continuing.
