Story
Notes from the author: The following is a short story I wrote in the Elantris world back in January of 2006. There were always a few holes in Elantris where I decided not to include viewpoints or sections of explanation in the name of streamlining, particularly at the end. In the back of my mind, I knew what happened. This story talks about one of those holes; it is meant to be heard after you’ve finished the novel and takes place during the events of the climax.

Great story and performance. However, it took some time not to get lost in all the foreign character / religion/ place names. too bad more titles from the same author are not included in the subscription.
I still wish audible was more like Netflix for audio books - so that when we pay subscription we would have access to all titles for the duration of the subscription - not just select few...

Story
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

apart from the book constantly suggesting that being a backstabbing ****hole is supposedly superior, I felt that many examples were just twisted by author to support his theories. I doubt there are such complete records from history of not just what people did, but also the thoughts behind their actions...
summary of the book:
everyone and especially friends exist just for you to use them and discard them once you achieved what you want... of course with a friendly smile on your face so they don't see it coming :) here - just saved you many hours of listening to author describing what people from centuries ago actually thought... like he actually knows...

eye rolling decisions...
Reviewed: 08-21-24
I mostly liked the books up to this point, but these "veteran" experienced characters keep making stupid decisions and are totally oblivious to threats that are quite obvious... For me, this is the most sloppy and unimaginative way to create problems and tension in a story - just make characters ignore common sense... and "surprise"...

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

overall, I enjoyed the story and listened to most of the books in series - but while enjoyable - I wouldn't say it's anything super special. In fact, the characters felt rather"flat" to me. I would still recommend it though...

enjoyable as a part of the subscription, but I wouldn't purchase for the amount of credits they are asking...
Reviewed: 06-17-24
the story was enjoyable and the voice acting was great. I liked the potential of the story, but it felt like there is a bit too much focus on main character lusting after male protagonists. I found myself skipping some parts because of this - but I understand I'm not exactly the target audience.
overall I found the plot interesting, but a bit undeveloped in favor of "girly" scenes...
also, graphic audio splits individual books into 2-3 separate purchases - so you need up to 3 credits for one book ... and this series has A LOT of books... seems kind of exploitative towards readers.
I listened to first few books as part of the subscription, but I refuse to pay 3 credits per book.

More than two centuries after World War III poisoned the planet, the final bastion of humanity lives on massive airships circling the globe in search of a habitable area to call home. Aging and outdated, most of the ships plummeted back to Earth long ago. The only thing keeping the two surviving lifeboats in the sky are Hell Divers - men and women who risk their lives by skydiving to the surface to scavenge for parts the ships desperately need.

great series and voice acting - except for narrators voice that sounds like he is terribly bored with all this stuff... very monotone and emotionless... yawn... but it somehow got better in later books - or maybe I just got used to it. recommended.
careful - last book is not in the subscription and requires additional purchase - just so you know that if you like the story you'll be required to pay more to know how it ends...
btw - book covers could be better - they make it feel like some low grade cheap fantasy - I disregarded reading it several times before I eventually decided to give it a try - and only for the lack of choice in the audible subscription library.

good story... but..

I liked the story and voice acting. My only issue with this title is that while other books in the series are included in the subscription, this last book requires extra payment next to what I already paid for subscription.
This whole subscribtion system is useless when it's being treated like a free (but paid) sampler that requires additional purchase if you actually want to finish a series...
Feels kind of like being exploited ... you paid for subscription... now pay more if you want to hear the end of the story...
my bad - I didn't check the availability of all books before starting.. but from now on I'll not start a series unless all parts are included in the subscription I'm paying for...
It's like if Netflix was asking extra money next to the subscription fee for the last few episodes of TV Shows... imagine how that would work...

Wandering through the snowy woods in the mountains near her home, Angela Constantine stumbles upon a wolf feeding on the body of a murdered young woman. That discovery is only the start of her problems. Throw a blind evangelist and his mute sister into the mix, and New York Times best-selling author Terry Goodkind has concocted another irresistible cocktail of suspense, a tale where the difference between life and death dances on the edge of a razor-sharp blade. Trouble’s Child set in the world of the novel The Girl in the Moon.

OK, but...
Reviewed: 04-12-24
Not bad, but there were some annoying aspects.
For example, some minor deviations from the book - like instead of having a training pistol (book) they changed it to shooting out of their fingers (audio)... why??! I understand some changes are required to adjust for audio format, but why deviate from the book on such things that don't effect audio? ...
Voice acting - this was also rather disappointing until I got used to it. It felt unrealistic. I felt the voices of the kids often didn't match their age. In general, most of the voices felt too unnatural - kind of like a voiceover for small kids animated shows, or video games. Quite over exaggerated and just unnatural... I expected more movie like voice performance, but that would be a quite unprofessional movie if it sounded like that.
And one last thing - the breaks were made of about 30 second long music inserts, which were quite uninteresting and just too long. I found myself reaching for the phone every time to skip them, because I found them rather annoying...
Overall, it was an all right listen since it was freely included in subscription. I would have been more disappointed if I had to pay full price for it... I liked both the book and the movie better than this audio though...
