Story
Raised on a South Carolina plantation as the house pet of her white master's daughter, Kitty never made a decision for herself. Now, as a young adult, she must preserve her faith while making the biggest decision ever: stay with her master and go south to avoid the Yankees or run away tonight to the North with Grady, the field slave she has come to love.

Great Series
Reviewed: 06-28-21
Although the history of the Civil War is so heartbreaking to recount, I do enjoy the way Lynn Austin is skilled at making the history and characters come alive. I love the way in which biblical faith and perseverance, through steadfast trust in the Lord is so prevalent in each book in this series. It is hard to imagine how these precious people could ever get through such ungodly horror without their tenacious faith in the Lord.
I listened to all 3 books in this series and the only slight negative is that I thought this story ended too abruptly. I would have loved to hear of Grady's reunion with Tessie, his mother, before the abrupt end with his father.
This narrator Christina Moore is always excellent!

Story
Many know the heroic story of Jim Elliot’s violent death in 1956, killed by a primitive Ecuadorian tribe he was seeking to reach. Many also know the prolific legacy of Elisabeth Elliot, whose influence on generations of believers through print and broadcast testimony continues to resonate. What many don’t know is the remarkable story of how these two stalwart personalities - single-mindedly devoted to pursuing God’s will for their young lives, certain their future callings would require them to sacrifice forever the blessings of marriage - found their hearts intertwined.

Beautiful, and so spiritually helpful!

I love anything and everything by and about Elisabeth and Jim Elliot. For me, it is always like reading a devotional. I am so spiritually stirred and blessed. I am so thankful to the Lord for their precious lives and examples. I pray that I, by God's grace, will follow them in their total devotion to Christ. So thankful that because of our mutual salvation in Jesus Christ alone, I will get to meet and know them in our Father's Kingdom of Heaven.❤🙌🙌🙌Also, thank you,
Valerie Elliot Shepherd for sharing your parents letters and story with us. ❤

For the past 25 years, Heaven has inspired us to live well on Earth even as we long for eternity. Drawing on Scripture, Joni Eareckson Tada answers the deepest questions of our hearts about what heaven will be like, who we will see there, and who we will be there. This updated and expanded edition of Joni’s classic brings a new understanding of what heaven is, along with new mysteries and hopes. Now in her late 60s, Joni is much closer to heaven than she was when she first wrote the book in her mid 40s.

Story
In this book, Joni unveils the God whom she has found to be faithful through over 30 years as a paralytic. This is not the story of a woman who has all the answers or who is very different from you. Joni struggles with the same fears, questions, and heartaches we all have in common. But as the weeks and months turn into years and the years into decades, she meets her Savior at every turn.

Absolutely wonderful! So inspiring, heartwarming, emotionally and spiritually moving, encouraging, comforting , edifying Christ centered and God glorifying. I could go on, but I think you get the message. I. will listen to this book again, and again.
The narrator is Joni, herself, with her husband, Ken, reading the Scripture verses.
Joni did a great job narrating, she was wonderful! What a blessing and gift of God, is she!
