About this listen

Follow Father Tim and Cynthia on their journey to research his Kavanagh ancestry in the Irish countryside.

Vacation - the very word has been foreign to Episcopal priest Tim Kavanagh. Now retired from tending his flock in the village of Mitford, he is making good on a promise to show his wife, Cynthia, the charming land of his Irish ancestors. But after arriving at a Lough Arrow fishing lodge in the midst of a torrential downpour, the charm disappears.

They find their holiday upended by an intruder, a treasured painting is stolen from the lodge, and a family conflict dating back nearly a century turns even more bitter. As three generations struggle to find deliverance from the crucifying power of secrets, Tim and Cynthia stumble upon a faded journal that might just explain the crime - and offer a chance at redemption.

As Usual I am not disappointed

I own all of the Mitford and Father Tim series in audible form. I never tire of listening to them. There are few books I will read or listen to twice but I have listen to these books over and over. My favorite reader is John McDonough but I must say that Erik Singer was fantastic and did a wonderful job. I will look for his name as narrator again! I highly recommend this book.

I wanted the story to go on and on

The narration is brilliant and the characters come alive in an amazing way. I felt like I wanted to be part of this family. I was so sad when the story finally ended as I wanted it to just go on and on.

My favorite of all the Father Tim stories

I loved the setting and character development and mysteries solved. I have listened to this one more than once and recommend it highly.

I Fell in love with these characters!

Not only was this a wonderfully written peak into the life of the Irish inkeeper, the narrator completed the transport into a beautiful Irish world.

Excellent narrator… but not for this series

While I do enjoy listening to this narrator, one just cannot get into the story the same way (as all of the precious books) because John McDonnaugh has solidified the voices of Father Tim, Cynthia, and all of the Mitford crew in our minds.

Well written, good story… it lacks the finishing touch of the right narrator.

This Is One Of My Favorites

Loved this one! Although I was surprised that John Mcdonough wasn't the narrator, after I heard the Irish accents and language being spoken, I understood. Not only did I love the narrator but also the story in the old journal.

A wonderful book!

Mesmerizing

A story within a story. I hate to see it end. But it all ended just right.
I saw the TV movie of At Home in Mitford. I turned it off after 1/2 an hour. They did you no credit with that. It was awful. So on to the next book. God bless

Enchanting

As usual, I have fallen in love with the characters that came to life in this enchanting story. Father Tim and Cynthia were at their best, Jan Karonhas done it again and crafted a totally satisfying adventure.
