Story
Growing up, I knew my older brother’s best friend thought of me as “Logan’s kid sister”. For me, though, our next-door neighbor Colin felt like anything but a sibling. Whenever I spied on him through my bedroom window, as he banged away, shirtless, on his drum kit, I felt sensations inside me I’d never felt for my actual brother. But when we moved away and Colin’s band took off like a rocket, I knew my tweener fantasies would never become a reality.

I just didn’t like the characters

This book wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t that great either. The female lead broke into tears continuously, it was just annoying, grow a backbone and stop this obsessive pining.
Asides from her obsession - what else does she offer a rick, creative, highly successful man, who has lots of friends. She’s not educated, experienced, ‘emotional regulated. She isn’t creative and doesn’t seem to have friends, I’m not really getting her appeal.
Overall weird story, wasn’t terrible, but not great.

It’s never a good combo to be broke and desperate. You do stupid things. Like accidentally sign your soul over to hell. When I interviewed for a new security job, I didn’t bat an eye that it was for a literal graveyard shift...headstones and all. I mean, at the hourly rate they were offering, who cares? I got this. Turns out, I’m not guarding a graveyard like I thought. It seems I’ve just walked my broke ass into protecting a gate to hell. Yeah...I don’t got this.

Ridiculous main character
Reviewed: 12-03-21
This is the kind of storyline that perpetuates stereotypes around women being stupid, childlike helpless burdens that need to be taken care off.
The author actually manages to write pretty well, and the story concept is great, but her views on what constitutes an interesting main character is sadly missing the mark.
Just couldn’t stand another tantrum so gave up on the book.

Story
Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn't let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving. Of course, if she'd known he'd request that she be his wife for 12 months, she'd have hesitated in accepting his help.

This book was well written and I enjoyed listening to it, but I just didn’t like the characters. It read like a shallow soap opera, lots of ridiculous drama and the hero was just an arrogant arse. The author kept writing the plot as though this was okay, but it was just offensive and we really got nothing redeemable. He wasn’t fun, or nice, or respectful- he kept controlling the heroine and manipulating her, dismissing what she said, did or wanted as unimportant. Even the cat was introduced straight after he used coercion and control to manipulate the heroine, very dismissive behaviour - one action does not cancel the other out as the author tried to get us to believe.
It bothers me a lot when authors class bad manners and disrespectful behaviour as ‘alpha’, it’s not alpha it’s insecurity that presents as nasty controlling behaviours that dismiss the autonomy of other people.
While I didn’t like the characters I did like the writing style enough to keep listening.

Downsized, broke, and dumped, 38-year-old Marley sneaks home to her childhood bedroom in the town she couldn't wait to escape 20 years ago. Not much has changed in Culpepper. The cool kids are still cool. Now they just own car dealerships and live in McMansions next door. Oh, and the whole town is still talking about that Homecoming she ruined her senior year.

I really enjoyed this book, the characters were great and the story was well written, there is also just the right amount of fun and quirky bits to keep the reader engaged.
My only frustration was the way the heroine was written as a self absorbed idiot, to stupid to get over high school hang ups. I get that high school can be tough, but seriously it was twenty years ago. I just once want a heroine written that isn’t emotionally stunted, self absorbed and incapable of seeing past her own drama and hang ups- seriously, when do real women actually have the time to be so dramatic, life is too busy.

The mist is rising so lock your doors and stay inside, for the monsters have returned. On a dark and ominous night, at the edge of the Abyss, Agathe rescues a baby from a monster that should have been extinct. Gravely injured in the process, the elderly Agathe is rewarded by having her youth restored. But that's only the start of the strangeness.

This was a great listen Eve Langlais at her best. The storyline twisted and turned and had highs and lows. There were parts that felt a bit disjointed, but somehow it was fine.
I was really confused at the beginning of the book because a middle aged/elderly woman seemed to be the heroine - this never happens in stories, elderly women are always depicted as eccentric sidekicks. But not in this story, which just kept turning and surprising the reader.
Probably the only gripe was that the heroine was always angry, would be nice if occasionally she behaved nicely. But can’t wait for the next book.

Story
As a wolf shifter growing up in a strong pack, I should be living my best life. But after my father tried to kill our leader, I’m labelled an outcast, traitor, less than dirt. When I can't take pack life any longer, I run, but apparently they don't like losing their punching bag. Torin, the leader’s son, drags me back before my first shift...a shift that will reveal my true mate. I never could have predicted who mine would be, but the moment my wolf looks upon him, I’m filled with hope for a brighter future.

One of the best books I’ve listened to in a long time. The characters were sometimes frustrating but always consistent and they were exactly right for where the story was going. I like that the heroine is flawed, strong and actually recognises when she is being treated badly by the hero. Sometimes the story felt convoluted but never dull and I just wanted to keep reading to find out what happened next.
Definitely would highly recommend.

This story was just not hitting the mark at all. The main characters were just weird and not particularly likeable and we were never really clear why they got together, The heroine spends time saying what a fraud she is because she slept with her professor to get qualified, then she gets angry at people for accusing her of sleeping her way to the top. After the she then decides to keep the partners happy by selling her body and sex to the client so the firm gets looked after financially. The hero takes advantage of her dilemma and agrees to her money for sex deal.
Nothing romantic or appealing about any of it.

I just think these books get better and better. It’s as though the author has relaxed into the series and is spending less time repeating the same information and needlessly filling pages and stretching the storyline. We now get an action packed story that has great characters, interesting dialogue and a combination of short and long term plots that keep me riveted.

First rule of Spite Club: Don’t fall for your fake boyfriend. Here’s what happened: My boyfriend cheated on me with Nick Mason’s girlfriend. We’re both angry. What better way to get revenge than to pretend to get together out of spite? Nick is rude and rebellious and completely freaking gorgeous. He's not my type, and I'm not his. There's no way we would work outside of our little game of dirty sex and well-kept secrets.

I enjoyed this book way more than I thought I would, though I should have trusted that Julie Kriss would pull of this story line perfectly.
Somehow this book manages to get the perfect balance between drama, but not too much, hot sex scenes, but still an interesting storyline and the best part is that I can connect with the characters and actually care what happens.
The best part is that we get all this and the female lead isn’t a weak useless idiot and the main hero doesn’t hit her once, always gets consent and surprisingly doesn’t try and control her like she is a child.
The only down side is that it’s too short
