About this listen

Vienna Stratton knew she only had herself to blame. You didn't let yourself become indebted to a man like Dane Davenport, no matter how badly you needed his help. As his personal assistant, she was very aware that the globally successful CEO was ruthless and unforgiving.

Of course, if she'd known he'd request that she be his wife for 12 months, she'd have hesitated in accepting his help. Because what she'd learned from Dane was that the devil wasn't ugly and terrorizing. He was seductive and captivating. He hummed with whispers of temptation - the temptation to sin and surrender, to let him brand and possess you. He awakened every need and fantasy you had.

He could even make you love him.

Contains mature themes.

So good

This is a wonderful story of two people learning to trust. It was a fast paced emotional journey that is so worth the time.

Genuinely Loved

Loved this story! Lots of surprising twists and turns... and *face fanning* steam.

Samantha Cook is one of the best narrators. She has a gift for brining characters to life and her delivery is quirky and unique. If you loved this, listen to That Guy by Kim Jones.

Loved this book

Thought it would be really dark in the middle but it wasn’t. It was how people try to use each other and how finding love can make everything clear. Good book

Incredible

I love it! Dane is deliciously ruthless but oh so loveable at the same time and Vienna is so strong despite her past. Together they make an incredible couple and I will read their story over and over again.

Great!

I really enjoy this author's paranormal romances and just learned her contemporary romance novels are just as fun!

Surprised how much I enjoyed it

This audiobook was an impulse by when it was on sale, and I do not believe I have previously read any books by this author.

Lately I have been in a bit of a book funk, and even on good days I can leave a trail of unfinished books and bad reviews in my wake because I have very little tolerance for bad writing. Thankfully I am not adding this book to the count.

Overall, I really enjoyed it. It was a nice break from the fantasy/sci-fi I usually read, and was just the right mix of fun tropes without going overboard on anything. For instance, I liked that while there was drama, the drama wasn’t the star of the show and it didn’t drag on. And there was very little serious drama between the hero and heroine, because they managed not to be terribly stupid and they actually communicated with each other. The relationship development was just the right amount of slow, and left enough mystery to keep me guessing. Are his motives sincere? Is he really a psychopath? Are the relatives really the bad guys or is there something to what they say?

My old real regret is that the entire book was from the heroine’s POV. I would have really appreciated at least one chapter from the guy’s POV so we could finally get in his head and have some suspicions confirmed or denied. Sigh.

There were a few surprise issues where the narrator used wrong words, I would have thought those errors would caught when reading the story out loud. Otherwise the writing was pretty solid.

If you want a light book without too much drama, some mystery, good relationship development, a moderate number of overall tasteful sex scenes, this would be a good pick. It is nothing amazing or exceptional, but it was a solid, entertaining story.

Breath of fresh air.

This book was a breath of fresh air. It definitely was a easy lesson. I'm happy that the heroine wasn't extremely weak and naive. Even though I think the reason why she agreed to the marriage was weak, the story was cool.

This was a sweet, love story

There were parts to this book I just loved, but it also dragged a little in places. Loved all the family drama. The two lovers fit so well together.

Good one!

One thing is for sure - it definitely didn’t feel like. 15 hour book! It held my attention the whole time. I NEVER fast forwarded at any point. The writing and story were great and the dialogue was really good too- nothing cheesy about this book at all. The romance progressed at a good and appropriate rate as well.

Non traditional love story

I really like the story, the family problems and how difficult was for the main lady character to solved them. The dynamics between the main characters and how she stood her ground.
