Starting her journey with children was a fresh breath of air, especially when she started working for the Prince Family. The love she had for the Prince Family children was unmatched, especially when she got acquainted with their father, Chief Prince. Struggling with grief after losing the love of his life, Chief is compelled to continue his demanding job as a billionaire investment banker, and he isn't interested in finding another love. At least that's what he thought.

The story wasn’t very cohesive. How do billionaires turn into hood ninjas? It doesn’t flow and the conflict didn’t fit.

She’s an angel. And she doesn’t mind dancing with a demon. That’s why I’d move mountains, dry seas, and hydrate the desert if it made her happy. She brought goodness to the world. It was only right that I made it hers, along with the two tiny beauties that shared her hazel eyes and perfect smile. For them, I’d do whatever. For them, I’d become whoever.

Male narrator

I LOVED this book when I read it on Kindle. I couldn’t wait to listen to it. That was until I saw Leon Nixon’s name. His voice doesn’t carry over to street dudes. It’s unrealistic. I don’t know if he has a lisp, a heavy tongue, or a juicy mouth…whatever it is, it’s distracting. I always hesitate when I see his name as the narrator. I’d rather listen to the robotic voice on my iPad.

Story
It was a long, hard-fought battle for Judge Kristen Catherine Bryant to be appointed by the President of the United States to a judgeship on the DC Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. She endured Congressional interrogations, press and news media interviews, speaking engagements, and grips and grins with intestinal fortitude and no little amount of patience and guile. That was all now behind her. She had a month to decompress before she had to move from Chicago, Illinois, to Washington, DC, to assume her new post.

Narration
Reviewed: 06-11-22
The book itself wasn’t terrible. I do feel it just like a lot of the others in this series are extremely wordy. The dropping of names from previous books is good to a point, but can be overwhelming. It’s was just SO much information to process. The narrator made the book so much worse. While she speaks clearly, her attempt at using her “Black sister girl voice” was insulting.

Story
Capri McAllister took her law degree and career into her hands and carved out a business as a lobbyist in the rough, competitive concrete jungle of Washington, DC's Capitol Hill often cutthroat society. She is young, not yet 30, but she is made of stern stuff. She loves her multicultural family fiercely, but she would not crumble under someone's attempt to intimidate her into dropping certain clients even if it means disgracing her family's good name.

Too much background information!
Reviewed: 03-21-22
There is such a thing as too much background info. I love this entire series. My only complaint is that with SO many names and backstories it’s too much to keep track of exactly where everyone fits. It’s just way too wordy. Or maybe the monotone sound of the narrator makes it worse.

I live for the Westmorelands, but the last few books about the Outlaws has been mediocre at best. The stories all follow the same formula. The women come across as whiny and I secure. The men are the same Alpha Westmoreland men. It’s not terrible, but I wouldn’t waste the credit.
