About this listen

Chris Williams is used to making sacrifices. For years he's done his duty by his family and his calling as he awaited the one person that was meant for him. When she finally came into his life, she was nothing like the woman he'd expected. Instead of being the warrior ready to help him protect his family and the humans under his care he got.....

A computer geek named Isabella, who somehow managed to get her name on every Master's hit list. One minute she admits that she'd made a foolish mistake and the next she's kidnapped, held hostage by a crazy cult who steals her chocolate and she's sure is after her program, a program she has no plans on giving up anytime soon. As she tries to keep her wits about her, the sexiest man she's ever seen claims her, only he doesn't seem to happy about it. It's clear that he doesn't want her, but the stubborn man just won't let her go even when it's clear that he may not have a choice.

Editorial reviews

Chris Williams is looking for the perfect girl, but his choice, Isabella, is anything but what he imagined. In fact, she's walking trouble. New York Times best-selling author R. L. Mathewson brings us this second audiobook of the Pyte/Sentinel series. Listeners are sure to dislike not-so-nice-guy Chris, but they'll love actor Stella Bloom's performance. Through varied pitches and pacing, she gives life to hottie Chris and nerdy Isabella while her narration resounds clear as a bell. Listeners hoping for something a little sexy, a little vampiric, and a lot thrilling will enjoy this wild ride.

Out of all the male leads in your books, this was by far the one that crossed the line. Simply put, the language Chris used throughout the book too speak to Izzy was overboard. I get it, he was trying to be an asshole but, it was too much and not necessary. It doesn’t make sense that Efram, Joshua and Eric would have allowed him to go that far with his language toward her. Again, I’m all the other books and series you’ve written the guys are very similar but Chris was way off.

Too much

I listened to the first book in the series and actually, really liked it. This one however… When you feel like back handing two fictional characters because you just can’t take either one of them, because the argument is so redundant, the situation is so non believable (and not in the vampire, shifter way, in the stupid way)that you feel like whacking them..it’s not worth the listen time.

Just couldn’t take it

struggled to finish. I liked Chris in the first book. Don't like him at all in this book. He is a very selfish jerk. Also way too much sex. Does not add to the story.

Not to crazy about this one. Too much porn.

I really enjoyed the 1st book. Humor was right on. Sex was great. The 2nd book, however, had a maturity Level of a pre-teen, minus the sex, of course. The EXTREME use of "Munchkin" and "Mate" was hard to ignore and get through to the end.

Maturity Level works for my 12 yr old

This story was a lesson in frustration. I was so sick of Chris being a jerk because it was ridiculously repetitive and annoying. I still want to have his "little mate" kick him in the butt and scream at him to get his head out of his backside. The author seemed to love irritating the reader-listeners. I am continuing on because the overall story is unique and the characters are endearing but I hope this character being a jerk without finding a way for the family or mate to help him climb out of the hole he dug himself into, won't be an ongoing problem. I hope I made my point about the repetition or should I repeat myself?

I loved the first book

loved book 1 and glad it carried over and continued and added storelines. however Chris and Lizzy..really maybe you could have cut about 20 chapters just by having them talk about past lifes..
then you kept talking about his brothers and sisters and other characters (Logan, etc) and NOTHING. very disappointing!

not happy with this book, loved 1st book

I get that every book hero can't always be charming, but it's not okay the way the heroine was treated through most of the book. having someone be an ahole initially then being set straight, I can handle, but he was awful through most of the book, then all of a sudden he's aware of his feelings and every awful thing he's said and done is forgiven, nope not buying it. This is the last time I'm giving an author a pass on glorifying characters like this. words have power and when authors write like this, they are giving creed to aholes like this in reality, so please stop doing it.

having said that, the narrator was pretty good and the storyline not bad, if you ignore the gigantic ahole in the way.

It's Not Okay

This story was a little slow. The concept was good., but a lot of repetitiveness.

Hoping for more
