Story
Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood—people living in America today. In his seminal new book, The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, journalist Tim Alberta, himself a practicing Christian and the son of an evangelical pastor, paints an expansive and profoundly troubling portrait of the American evangelical movement.

Dear leader was incidentally discussed and Evangelism was extensively discussed. While this was interesting, it did not tie Evangelism to the orange turd sufficiently.

Story
The January 6th attack is an unprecedented crime in American history. Sprawling and openly political, it can't be handled by the traditional rules and norms of law enforcement—threatening the very idea of justice and its role in society. A mass of online tipsters—"sedition hunters"—have mobilized, simultaneously providing the FBI with valuable intelligence. In this work of extraordinary reportage, Ryan Reilly gets to know would-be revolutionaries, obsessive online sleuths, and FBI agents, and shines a light on a justice system that's straining to maintain order in our polarized country.

Factual and insightful but the story jumped all over the place and it lost me a few times, like reading every articles in the newspaper with no connections

Story
Gracie Reed is doing just fine. Sure, she was fired by her overly “friendly” boss, and yes, she still hasn’t gotten her mother into the nursing home of their dreams, but she’s healthy, she’s (somewhat) happy, and she’s (mostly) holding it all together. But when a mysterious SUV pulls up beside her, revealing Chinese cinema's golden couple Wei Fangli and Sam Yao, Gracie’s world is turned on its head. The famous actress has a proposition: Due to their uncanny resemblance, Fangli wants Gracie to be her stand-in.

Story
America is undergoing a massive experiment: It is moving, in fits and starts, toward a multiracial democracy, something few societies have ever done. But the prospect of change has sparked an authoritarian backlash that threatens the very foundations of our political system. Why is democracy under assault here, and not in other wealthy, diversifying nations? And what can we do to save it?

The threat to democracy is still free despite 91 criminal charges, 4 indictments and 2 impeachments. This is a story of how tyrants have gotten away with toppling, almost toppling and may topple democracy if not imprisoned. The daily revelations of Trump’s crimes like revealing nuclear submarine secrets to our enemies or stealing of top secret documents should have automatically landed him in prison for the rest of his life. This book lists his crimes and builds a good case to arrest and imprison him, yet he’s running again for president with the endorsement of the Republican MAGA right. As the authors posit, if it were Obama who had his criminal record, he’d be thrown in jail in a heartbeat. Trump continues to take up oxygen. Lock him up and throw away the keys!!!

Story
The door to magic is closed, but it’s not locked. And now Joshua Jay, one of the world’s most accomplished magicians, not only opens that door but brings us inside to reveal the artistry and obsessiveness, esoteric history, and long-whispered-about traditions of a subject shrouded in mystery. In 52 short, compulsively listenable essays, Jay describes how he does it, whether it’s through the making of illusions, the psychology behind them, or the way technology influences the world of magic.

Very informative and as a bonus Joshua Jay sent out a FREE 500 page e-book.
Other comments: a bit preachy in some parts. When talking about underrepresented black magicians, why wasn’t Michael Vincent mentioned for example? He quickly glossed I’ve them but called out a name of a white woman magician. Bias by exclusion. I googled Jay, whose net worth in 2018 was $5 million. Why didn’t he use a professional recording studio? The clicks on his computer at every new section of the audio book was irritating and of an unprofessional quality.

Story
When Amos Decker is called to South Florida to investigate a double homicide, the case appears straightforward: A federal judge and her bodyguard have been found dead, the judge’s face sporting a blindfold with two eye holes crudely cut out, a clear sign that she’d made one too many enemies over her years on the bench. What at first seems cut and dry is anything but: Not only did the judge have more enemies than Decker can count—from violent gang members, drug dealers, and smugglers to a resentful ex-husband—but the bodyguard presents additional conundrums that muddy the waters even further.
