About this listen

From the author of The 6:20 Man, “Memory Man” Amos Decker—an FBI consultant with perfect recall—delves into a bewildering double homicide in this thriller in David Baldacci's #1 New York Times bestselling series.

When Amos Decker is called to South Florida to investigate a double homicide, the case appears straightforward: A federal judge and her bodyguard have been found dead, the judge’s face sporting a blindfold with two eye holes crudely cut out, a clear sign that she’d made one too many enemies over her years on the bench.

What at first seems cut and dry is anything but: Not only did the judge have more enemies than Decker can count—from violent gang members, drug dealers, and smugglers to a resentful ex-husband—but the bodyguard presents additional conundrums that muddy the waters even further. Who was the real target in this vicious attack?

Meanwhile, Decker must contend with a series of unsettling changes, including a new partner—Special Agent Frederica “Freddie” White—and a devastating event that brings Decker’s own tragic past back to the present . . . and forces him to reckon with his future.

As potential witnesses start disappearing, Decker and White are inexorably pulled down a twisted tunnel of secrets, crimes, and scandal—at the end of which lies Decker’s deadliest threat yet.

Always listening in CO

Really enjoyed this books. Two night, I left it playing all night! But could go back a listen from where I had been in the morning. I highly recommend putting a book on, very low sound, maybe a 45 minute timer if you can’t sleep. I have found audible helps tremendously when the thoughts won’t stop overwhelming my brain. A good, long book is now my go to solution over sleeping pills.
Keep another book already in your library in case you finish one in the middle of the night. I listen to mystery’s , thrillers, crime, and legal. Never had a bad dream from listening and falling asleep. But always read the reviews and get your favorite narrators! Never go sleepless again, and avoid the medications!

Another fine book in the memory man series

Loved the human side for Decker in this book and loved Freddie, too. Great story with so many twists and turns.

The best Amos Decker novel

Was a bit apprehensive when this book started as there was a significant change in the Memory Man back story. However, this story got better and better. There were a ton of clues throughout, with more than one mystery. Great ending!!

Get new readers

I would think you would get the best readers for Baldacci. Cassidy is marginal and really can’t do multiple characters - Brewer is better than Cassidy but still not great. I think their reading and voices negatively impacted
The writing and dialogue

Don’t miss if you like Memory Man

Excellent read. One of his best and will look forward to his next Memory Man book and hope it’s as good as this one. The author really developed his characters in this book.

Very entertaining and gripping.

The production was very good. While I very much enjoyed the story, it sometimes seemed a bit overly complex and slightly implausible, but just up to the line which the story did not cross. The characters were well developed and performed. There are many directions Decker can go in the next book!
