Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Amazing Breakout from Baldree
Reviewed: 04-11-22
I've grown to love Travis Baldree for his narration over the years, and he clearly has picked a thing or two up from what he's narrated.
Legends and Lattes is about a retired adventurer who opens her own coffee shop. Hearing how they describe and come up with new foods and drinks is a treat, and the tropes of working in a coffee shop were well represented.
I highly recommend giving this gem a listen, and can't wait to hear what Baldree writes next!

Story
A floating fortress occupied by warrior gnomes. A castle made of sand. A derelict submarine guarded by malfunctioning machines. A haunted crypt surrounded by lethal traps. It was supposed to be easy. One bubble. Four castles. Fifteen days. Capture each one, and the stairwell is unlocked. Here's the thing. It's never easy. Carl and his team can't go it alone. Not this time. They must rely on the help of the low-level, I-can't-believe-these-idiots-are-still-alive crawlers trapped in the bubble with them. But can they be trusted?

As always, Dinniman outdid himself. Jeff Hayes narration improves with each book, and it started off top tier anyways.
if you like DCC and have made it this far, definitely keep on!

Story
Digby Graves, a deceased medieval peasant with delusions of grandeur, is trying to figure out how the hell he ended up in Seattle eight hundred years after his death. Also, why does he have necrotic magic coursing through his zombified body? Added to that is the fact that he made a terrible first impression the moment he woke up by lunging at the first person that came into biting range. Now, the curse he unleashed is loose in the world.

Great Story, well written characters
Reviewed: 11-26-21
Rather than the traditional "Human from our world goes to another world" fish out of water story, we get a medieval man who wakes up in the modern day as a zombie.
Great fun if youre looking for a funny gory romp through Seattle.

Amazing GameLit Novel
Reviewed: 10-20-21
I've gone through countless GameLit series and Standalones- And this is easily in my Top Three. The Author subverted expectations with how they skipped the tropes we all know in the genre. This isn't another "guy sucked into a portal and has to play the game or die for real"- This has more relatable stakes, more relatable emotions, and a unique game system that is different from the standard ROG and Cultivation systems most GameLit goes for.
I highly recommend giving this a read!

The ratings and views are off the chart. The fans just can't get enough. The dungeon gets more dangerous each day. But in a grinder designed to chew up and spit out crawlers by the millions, Carl and Princess Donut need to work harder than ever just to survive. They call it the Over City. A sprawling, once-thriving metropolis devastated by a mysterious calamity. But these streets are far from abandoned. An undead circus trawls the ruins. Murdered prostitutes rain from the sky. An ancient spell is finally ready to reveal its dark purpose.

I'm loving this series, already halfway through the third. Matt Dinniman has a gift for writing, and book two is no exception. we get a more focused level of the dungeon, and some new Dungeon Crawl mechanics start popping up to grow the world. if you liked the first entry, you'll love this one.

Story
A man. His ex-girlfriend's cat. A sadistic game show unlike anything in the universe: a dungeon crawl where survival depends on killing your prey in the most entertaining way possible. In a flash, every human-erected construction on Earth - from Buckingham Palace to the tiniest of sheds - collapses in a heap, sinking into the ground. The buildings and all the people inside have all been atomized and transformed into the dungeon: an 18-level labyrinth filled with traps, monsters, and loot.

A Brutal GameLit Comedy
Reviewed: 03-31-21
Despite having loved everything else by Matt Dinniman, I held off on this for a while. I expected some lowbrow cornball comedy, but boy was I wrong.
Dungeon Crawler Carl has the right balance of violence, comedy, brutality, exploration, and action for a book. I'd go from laughing to heart pumping to feeling sad all within the same chapter.
Of all the books I've listened to Jeff Hays narrate (and trust me, there are MANY of those), this was the most perfect fit so far. Lately I've been doing Audible for new books and continuing with eBooks when there's no further audio options. I can't do DCC2 the injustice though, as Jeff Hays does it better than my imagination could. I'll be eagerly awaiting the next audible installation!
