Well Damn!

Really good book, and one even someone not in the spotlight can identify with. Heartbreaking that her family, boyfriends, and husbands used and abused her, and the paparazzi acted so irresponsibly to profit off of her struggles. No protection and authentic love from childhood up to and beyond her superstar adulthood! Shame on the vultures, particularly her parents and the court system who basically pimped her out. This book is raw and she is still crying out for protection and real love from those who used her for their own financial gain. Keep fighting Brit!

Sorry! Not Sorry this was Not Good!
Reviewed: 07-11-19
This was my first time listening to a Jae audiobook. It won’t be my last time, however, I won’t be listening to her next book because this one was good, it wasn’t, but I’ll listen because I’m hoping her next book will be so good that the memory of how “not good” this one was will be washed away. If the phrase sexual orientation would have been used 1 more time in this story I was going to pull my ears off. They must have said sexual orientation at least 20 times in this story and sometimes 2-3 times in a row. And while it is understandable that a victims of sexual assault would be reluctant, scared, and even too traumatized to engage in a sexually intimate relationship again, I think this story drug that uncertainty and fear out much too long and agonizingly so. And the author seemed to be writing two stories, at first a crime story, but then we were taken down the old squeaky never ending staircase of fear and what seemed like an endless amount of self talk by the main characters. I have enjoyed this narrator before, several time actually and maybe that’s why I gave this book a shot, but even she could not save this book for me. I say without hesitation that nothing about this book would make me rate any part of it as good. Major fail. I wish I had all the hours I spent listening to it back. On the plus side though, I did get a lot of gardening done while listening.

Story
Twenty-eight-year-old Brooklyn Campbell is having a bad day. A speeding ticket, a towed car, and a broken heel are all working against her laid-back vibe. To top it all off, her birth mother, whom she's never met, has requested contact. The only bright spot is an impromptu date with a beautiful and mysterious brunette. Jessica Lennox is what you would call a high-powered executive. She's the head of a multimillion-dollar advertising firm in New York City, and it didn't happen by accident.

This book sent me on the hunt for all things Melissa Brayden! I know the narrator’s New York accent hurt many people’s ears, but it certainly did not take away from this story. She connected with the characters in a way that gave them their own identity. I want more of Jessica...she’s every woman’s fantasy. Listen to this book and it will entertain you and you’ll want to listen to the next 2 in the series.

Not Very Good

I’m a fan of Gerri Hill, so I say this with all sincerity, I’m sorry but this book sucked. The story was shallow, the characters lacked depth and were not likable. The main characters had no chemistry. Put all that together with a horrible narrator and you get a dud of a book. I really tried hard to find something good about the story or the characters but I just couldn’t. I do not recommend this book at all.

As the go-to therapist at Elite Therapy, Dr. Hayley Sims is the best in her field. It's exactly why she's just been assigned her most challenging patient yet, hockey player Elizabeth Stone. Not because Stone's injury is complicated, but because she is intense to work with and needs someone to keep her in check. When Hayley's personal life starts unraveling and she realizes she might be developing feelings for her patient, she's torn between finishing her assignment and walking away to protect herself.

Good Story Horrible Narration!
Reviewed: 08-28-18
I read the reviews before buying this book. I was torn because many said the story was good and hot, but the narrator was awful. I love a good story laced with the right amount of hotness so I bought it. The reviews were right. Nothing can ruin a good story like a narrator who seems to sleep through the story. She almost killed it for me. It was hard to tell who was speaking at times because nothing about her voice changed. And when she did try to make a distinction for Stone’s voice she really made it sound like Stone was an entirely different character than we had come to know, and not in a good way. Not sure why the author or someone didn’t pull the plug on this particular narrator and found someone who was more into the story to read it.
I also felt the obligatory static between the main characters was too shallow. I knew there would be something that makes a beautiful love story have a conflicting moment with the lovers, I just thought it would pack more of a punch in this story, or I hoped it would. When I found out what it is with these two, I was so disappointed.
What kept me going though, was the sex, the hot sex. Many reviews point that out so I’m putting my two cents in on that. If not for the steamy sex I would have 100% hated this book.
So if you can handle horrible narration and the boring ancillary characters, and enjoy some good, all out sex between what I made up in my mind to be two beautiful and sexy women...this is the book for you!

Story
For Lindsay Kent, Vineyard is her dream job. She's thrilled when her boss leaves her in charge (well, half charge) and tells her to feel free to make changes. Lindsay has tons of ideas that she's been dying to put into action, and this is her big chance to increase the success of the business and prove she's more than ready to run things solo. But getting the boss's daughter on board is harder than expected. The uptight and annoyingly attractive Piper is blocking her every move. For Piper Bradshaw, Vineyard is not her job. She already has one.

What disappointed you about Blend?
The narration was horrific. She made Piper sound like a comatose Neanderthal.
The story was very predictable. The break up fight between the 2 primary characters didn’t make sense. Don’t waste your time with this book.
What was most disappointing about Georgia Beers’s story?
The story lacked depth and any feeling of authenticity.
Would you be willing to try another one of Paige McKinney’s performances?
Heck No. if I see her name while browsing I’m not bothering to listen.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment
Any additional comments?
Do better and try not to sound like a broken record.

I liked the story, but really had a hard time with the narrator's voice for Nat. Why she was trying to make Nat sound like chain smoking man is beyond me. So what if she is butch and handsome, she's still a lady. That really bothered me.
I also didn't like the instant LOVE thing. Can we please stop with the falling in love at first sight theme already?
I did enjoy the explicit details of the sexing though. The characters give the listener more than a little bit of erotica. First book I've listened to like this and I finished it in 24 hours. Steamy and dreamy! More please!!

Not Melissa's Best...repetitive
Reviewed: 06-07-17
After the Soho Loft series it going to be hard for Melissa Brayden to equal or best them. Kiss the Girls was my favorite. Felicity Munroe is my favorite Brayden narrator by far, but this time she dropped the ball. She was trying to do way too much with all the different accents. And after listening to 6 other Brayden books, you really grow tired of hearing the same lines repeated; pushing the hair from the forehead, arm around the waist, the best thing ever, her center, she was so ready, and so many more lines that are used in every book. Not every love affair is the best ever. Where have these people been that everything is the best ever?
And I just found it hard to believe this small town USA would be GayTopia! Everybody even the old folks are all so cool with all these gay people. No way. Finally, I really had a hard time with the 2 characters falling in love. Some things are off limits no matter how strong the attraction. Get a hold of yourselves. There's other fish in the sea, you live in the gayest small town on the planet...find someone else. Hoping Melissa will be more creative in her upcoming books. She really is a great writer. I will continue to buy her books because she is witty and her characters are usually hot, sexy and unbridled.

Narration was Horrible
Reviewed: 05-31-17
The story had potential but the narrator herself didn't seem the least bit interested in the story. I really think Melissa Brayden would have stayed with her original narrator when tying the characters from previous books. I love the connectivity of the characters from the previous books but the poor narration is creating gaps that kept my eyes rolling and me actually shouting at the narrator. Kristin Barnes was a complete dud. Maybe she should have listened to the previous books so she would understand how to infuse life, energy, passion and humor into the characters. It's like she was reading to herself and not to an audience. Also the story was nothing close to the previous books by Brayden, but perhaps that's because the narrator killed everything for me. Ugh! Sad.
