If anybody is ever looking for a good audiobook I always recommend this series. Zara ramms narration combined with the hilarious,
intelligent action of Jodi Taylor always provides great companionable entertainment.

I’ve listened to this series countless times. Zara ramms voice is great company. I never tire of the capers of the people of St. Mary’s. Even though I know the outcomes, I still laugh out loud and sometimes even cry over their travails, Jodi Taylor never disappoints.

Would you try another book from Betsy Reavley and/or Ally Murphy?

Probably not.

What could Betsy Reavley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Picked up the pace. For a supposed thriller there was an enormous amount of navel gazing going on.

What didn’t you like about Ally Murphy’s performance?

The child's voice was unbearable.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The ending was okay

Any additional comments?

I took the time to write this review, which I don't normally do because I was deceived into thinking it would be better by the 4.1 rating. I just kept hoping it would get interesting but the story trudged on almost monotonously to its bitter ending.

I haven't finished the book and may not because although the narrator has a pleasant voice her "character " voices are off-putting and making me not want to listen to the rest of the story despite the fact that I might enjoy the story without these "character" voices .

The Swap: A Mystery Audiobook By Nancy Boyarsky cover art

I chose the book because I liked the description of the story and the audio sample let me know the narrator had a pleasant voice. Unfortunately she attempted several different accents and they were all so bad. If she had just maintained her own spoken voice it would have been much better because the terrible accents detracted from the overall story and performance

I don't normally write reviews but I think other buyers should be warned about the production of the book. I don't even know whether the story was good or not because I was so distracted and annoyed by the sound effects: dog barking, footsteps, background chatter, voice distortion to signify talking on the phone, phones ringing, etc ad nauseum. I hope the producer gets enough bad feedback so that I never run into this phenomenon again.

I did not find gratuitous descriptive violence as some reviewers asserted. The end was a little bit of a letdown and I don't feel emotionally attached to the protagonists yet as I have been with some series. I will listen to the next book to see if I become invested. I like the narrators voice.
