Longing for more!

Oh my god, this story was so great. Love love love! I didn't want to put it down.
I loved every second of it, and it's so hard for me to get into fiction. I loved growing up with Maud, growing into her power. I loved how much I could relate to her story of being marked. I loved the characters, their relationships, it felt real and alive, magic infused my life.
I only wish Amie had resolved the story more. I felt a little dropped at the end, and wanted to know more about what happened next. Maybe this was intentional, but I could have used a tiny bit more aftercare.
Keep writing, Amie!!

Story
During her multi-book investigation into understanding human nature, Gretchen Rubin realized that by asking the seemingly dry question “How do I respond to expectations?” we gain explosive self-knowledge. She discovered that based on their answer, people fit into Four Tendencies: Upholders, Questioners, Obligers, and Rebels. Our Tendency shapes every aspect of our behavior, so using this framework allows us to make better decisions, meet deadlines, suffer less stress, and engage more effectively.

Do you struggle to meet your own expectations?

There are few books that really and deeply helped me like this one. Simply learning that I was a questioner has helped me accept myself for the curious person I am. I always used to think of myself as a rebel and a pain in the butt, but I know now that I simply needed to understand that it's in my nature to want answers and a rational understanding of the world around me.

I really wanted to love this.

I ended up returning the book because I couldn't finish it. This happens to be my favorite subject matter, and the reviews and ratings automatically sold me.
But the fact of the matter is, I simply couldn't get past his long story about himself. It all seemed more like a way to talk about himself than to share his ideas and thoughts.
I'm delighted that it works for so many, however, I believe in attracted to a more text book/analytical style of writing. So for me, this wasn't my book.
