a fantastic ride with genre tropes used and lamp shaded with skill. a genre savy character that presents the tropes he is forced into but tries to exploit them and subvert them in equal measure

The first two books were better. So far my favorite was book 2. The main characters were exasperating and childish in this book. It was everything in me not to fast forward to the sex. I also was not a fan of her calling him a “good boy”.

I thought the writing was sub par and the story beats were hacky. The main character was bred to be a space pilot secretly by her grandmother because only her family knows about aliens.

I couldn’t stop listening and completed it in one sitting. Stayed up all night. May be an emotional listen for anyone that has dealt with abuse.

A good redressing of Robin Hood with a dash of magic that blends into the beginnings of an Arthurian storyline. Overall it's a good book with only some minor blemishes.

The writing lacks detail. The book gives the feeling of an author trying to cash in on the third wave of a YA trend. The story feels like a collection of tropes with mediocre execution. I feel like I listened to the outline of what could have been a better book. The narrator did excellent work while having only passable material to work with.

The first two stories were decent. The last 3 were like pulling teeth waiting for information only to be underwhelmed.

What to say about this book? All I can think of is how the narrator chooses to pronounce certain words and the way that she uses her voice to make the action in the book stilted and hard to follow. I love Kim Harrison's works and the hollow series is my favorite of hers. I cannot however listen to this audiobook anymore. Without a doubt it is the hardest thing that I've ever had to sit through and I will be getting a refund. I look forward to the next book which is a return to the previous narrator. I suggest that this is one title that you get physical copy of to read.

Jake Sullivan is the lead role Raymond Chandler wrote about "The Simple Art of Murder." There would be the need for no other man on your side in a fight or a debate. The setting is as well put together as a Rolls-Royce and as comfortable to ride along in as such. Repeated listens still hold my attention as firmly as the first time. An excellent addition to your library.
