About this listen

In the third book of this brutally funny portal fantasy from the author of the Gods Are Bastards, even the most hideous of creatures can have value—sort of . . .

Transported from Earth to another world by a temperamental goddess, misanthrope Seiji was suddenly a dark lord of incredible power. Not that he wanted that exactly. He just hated everything and everyone and wanted to be left alone. So as a big baddie, he's tried to hold back on the pure-evil schtick and make life a little better for his people—without being a total wuss, of course.

But sometimes baddies gotta be bad. And now Seiji has found himself caught in a military, political, and possibly genocidal conflict with goblins. Historically (albeit wrongly) considered lowly pests, they've gathered under the banner of a self-proclaimed king. And that means all-out war to the last man . . . or goblin, as it were.

It also may offer Seiji the opportunity to create an unstoppable weapon to use against his nemesis: the insufferably good-hearted, noble, super-freaking-annoying Yoshi, the "Hero." The little twerp will never see it coming. Muahahahahahahaaaa!

The third volume of the hit fantasy adventure series—with more than five million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Sooo Good!

Great narration and awesome story! This series is up in my top 10 beside books like DCC, HWFWM, Cradle, ELLC, DOTF, and other greats. I can not wait for the next book!

looking forward to more

a fantastic ride with genre tropes used and lamp shaded with skill. a genre savy character that presents the tropes he is forced into but tries to exploit them and subvert them in equal measure

Hurry with the next book!

Really enjoying this series and the people doing the reading giving the characters their individual voices they deserve. The only bummer is I have to wait for the next book

Fantastic

Amazing story! Funny and clever just like the prequels.

I think it would be cool if the main character acknowledged how lonely he has to feel. He's forced to surround himself with beautiful women, who he admits are the types he would have tried to date, but can never touch them because of his trama and soul binding. Even if something romantic blossoms. So his most loyal and people he trusts the most, who are exactly his type, makes ever having companionship very very hard. Just has to feel so lonely.

Would make for some good drama to develop a romance but have all those road blockers. Overcoming them. But I also don't know if that matches the tone of the story. just something I think would be cool.

funny

I always like a story told from a "villain's" perspective, and I love how this story goes over the psychology of a lot of it.

Todd Haberkorn is FANTASTIC!!! as usual

Overall I enjoyed this book, however it is overall my least favorite in the series, so far because of the limited scope. In this book we had one singular focus, guided from point A to point B. The other books felt more like open world games if that makes sense. Still the same humor, and character interactions, and themes and such just smaller scope

amazing vocal performance, hilarious take on a troupe

I love these books so much, the humor is on point and keeps things moving. the overall performance is great as the narrator manages to do a variety of different voices and tones to engage you across dozens of characters and keeping it easy to know who's speaking. can't wait for more
